Description from owner
Description
For that perfect holiday getaway we offer our Log Cabin in an idyllic setting, nestled in the heart of the Rhinog Mountains. On the eastern edge of the village, at the highest point on the site, this Holiday Home is in an enviable position as it is private and not overlooked by any other cabins. Double glazed throughout and well insulated, a cosy warmth is enjoyed all year round with ample heating always on call. The two bedrooms are well appointed with double bed, heater, DVD player and satellite TV in the main bedroom and bunk beds in the second room. The sunny dining area of the cabin has a table and four chairs. For those warmer days there is also a garden table and chairs on the decking area for al fresco dining. A high chair is also available for younger family members. The open plan kitchen lounge area of the cabin is well appointed with a large forty inch HDTV with freesat featuring recording and live pause as well as freeview. Film lovers can use the Blu-Ray/DVD player which includes a USB port with a sound bar which also has Bluetooth connectivity. For music lovers you have the facility to play back from your tablet or smartphone via Bluetooth or USB using the sound bar.We have spectacular views of the mountains from both bedroom windows and it is a treat to wake up to. The elevated view and lack of light pollution at night mean the large decking area will be a star gazer's delight. On the village itself is a large safe play area with swings, slide and climbing frames, football field and basketball area; the friendly Shetland ponies kept on fields within the site create a particular attraction for children. The site has a well stocked shop where everyday essentials are available and is licenced to sell wines, beers and spirits to keep you topped up (although it's best to do your grocery shopping either before you travel or at the Tesco Superstore in nearby Porthmadog, or the Co-op or Spar at Bala)In the area around the shop is that other essential facility - a free Wi-Fi hotspot - so you can still e-mail and surf the net without charge. The cabin has a new, well equipped kitchen area; fridge with integrated small freezer compartment, DISHWASHER, cooker, microwave, toaster etc, and well stocked with ample utensils and crockery.Parking for two cars directly in front of the cabin.A laundrette is available at the shop area. This is a pet free cabin.Bed linen is provided, you will need to bring hand/bath towels and tea towels. All electricity is included in the price.Things to see and doThe village shop provides plenty of tourist information, but to give you a taste of what there is to enjoy:The area is a firm favourite with cyclists since the renowned Coed-Y-Brenin forest is literally five minutes drive away offering one of Britain's best ranges of cycle trails from routes to suit beginners through to hard-core treks to give experienced professionals a challenge. Go Ape is a popular attraction with rope swings and climbing activities.Worth a mention too are the walks nearby with mountain streams only five minutes away by car.For children there are beaches aplenty with Barmouth and Harlech only twenty minutes away; Shell Island is worth a visit too with its long soft sandy beaches with rock pools where the shrimps come and 'nibble' your toes. The coastal towns of Barmouth, Harlech, Porthmadog as well as Dolgellau all offer their own unique shopping experience with quaint shops offering antiques and souvenirs; there are plenty of bars and restaurants to be had to suit a wide range of tastes.Twenty minutes the other direction is the old slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog with its ancient caverns and mining history; a regular steam train operates between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Porthmadog so why not make a day of it and see both towns on rail by getting a return ticket. There are a host of mountain railways in the area with Betws-Y-Coed, Fairbourne and Tywyn all boasting their own steam railways, not forgetting the world famous Snowdon Mountain Railway as travelled since Victorian times, offering spectacular views from the roof of Wales without the long climb on foot.Nearby, Bala offers ample facilities for watersports, such as kayaking, windsurfing and boating. We hope you come and enjoy your holiday here.
