“Perfect location for exploring the best of the Scottish Borders”
We spent a week at Cosy Neuk and loved the fact that we could leave the car most days and walk into the town of Peebles along the quieter back road. Peebles itself is lovely: lots of good independent … More

Response from the manager We are disappointed to note your 3 star recommendation as we have always had 5 star for our cottages in all aspects. Including Visit Scotland grading. To help us improve our all ready high quality standard of our ever popular accommodation I would be interested in hearing where we could improve on this ? As we take good and bad criticism as a tool to improve on our service. Please advise.

“expected the average, but the reality was so much better.....”
very comfortable stay, kitchen equipped to very high standard, Denby ware crockery and coffee plunger what more can one ask....wifi worked perfectly for the teenager and the adults relished the quiet farm views. We were strangers to the border country but found so much to do during the weekend, Peebles turned out to be so interesting and the botanical gardens at Dawyck, Melrose Abbey , Hawick etc etc etc All within easy access. The owners were a delight to deal with, totally unflurried and so helpful and welcoming.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review Im glad you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated our better quality Denby crockery etc. We hope these extra special items add to our guest comfort. Wifi is very popular with our younger and even older guests now as nobody seems to can manage with out it. Lol ! Hope to see you again. Jan

“Very comfortable, self-catering cottage accommodation in a lovely countryside setting.”
After arriving from Canada in mid-May 2013 we spent 12 days touring the Scottish Highlands before arriving at Winkston Farmhouse for the remaining 10 days of our holiday. Our 'Cosy Neuk' self-catering courtyard cottage was clean, comfortable and very well equipped to accommodate our party of four adults. As returning visitors to Winkston we were pleasantly surprised to find that Wi Fi/Internet access had been installed in the courtyard for the benefit of guests staying in the cottages. In past years the signal was largely confined to the main house. We also discovered that a delightful, fun-equipped play area had recently been set up for young children in a private section of the garden beside the main house. Winkston is an excellent location for exploring the Borders of Scotland and the seaside villages and towns on the east coast. The whole area abounds with places of interest amid scenery that can only be described as spectacular. The historic town of Peebles is approximately one mile walking distance from Winkston with a sidewalk all the way in. A bus service between Peebles and the city of Edinburgh conveniently stops across the road from the main house at Winkston. When we felt like having a break from our own catering, we dined at the Green Tree hotel at the east end of Peebles. The food and beverages were excellent and so was the service. As in past years, our stay at Winkston was made all that more enjoyable by our warm and gracious hosts, Jan and George Haydock. No matter whether you are staying in luxury B&B accommodation at the main house, or one of the very comfortable self-catering cottages in the courtyard, Jan and George go out of their way to make Winkston a special place to stay for a healthy, restful, worry-free holiday. Suffice to say that we hope to return to this location in 2014.
