Description

Seashell Cottage is a family run business on the Isle of Seil, only half an hours drive away from the busy town of Oban. Set within the beautiful conservation village of Ellenabeich, the four star rated cottages sleep 4 people each, one King, and one twin (which can be zip and linked into another King if required). The cottages are furnished and equipped to a high standard and the cosy living room has an open fire for those cold winter days (one bucket of coal provided). After a days walk, why not relax in the spa bath provided. Wifi, dvd's, some books and a few board games are available in the cottages. Parking is available for two cars in each cottage.

Ellenabeich is situated in the most beautiful location with stunning scenery all around. Its a great base for a quiet peaceful holiday, and also for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits from walking, kayaking, sailing, fishing, cycling (hire bikes on Luing and enjoy the beautiful, quiet island) bird watching and photography. There are local walks from within the village and a slate beach to enjoy skimming stones on. The village has a pub/restaurant, small playground, museum and harbour where you can take boat trips out to the Corryvrekan Whirlpool and the surrounding Inner Hebrides. Take the local small ferry to neighbouring car free Easdale Island only a few minutes ferry trip away and treat yourself to a coffee and cake at The Puffer Cafe/Pub and just watch the world go by! .

Rockpool Cottage is right next door to Seashell Cottage and is pretty much iidentical to Seashell Cottage. If we are booked try Rockpool Cottage for availability

House rules

I generally allow 2 dogs in the cottage depending on size. However we would ask that owners of our furry friends leave the cottage as you found it and that the blankets provided are used on the sofa if they are likely to jump up on them. Thanks for respecting the house rules.

This is a semi detached cottage and people must be aware of their neighbours, so we ask that there are no parties in the property. Thanks

“A lovely Cottage in a Stunning Location”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2019

Seashell Cottage was well furnished, clean with stunning views in the village of Ellenabeich on the Isle of Seil. The owners have furnished the cottage with a nice quality modern touch which made it very comfortable and relaxing. A short walk will take you to a village pub with good food and easy access to a short boat trip to Easedale Island. Oban is a scenic 30 minute drive by car which is needed to get around the area. Annabel was very welcoming leaving fresh flowers, wine & milk on our arrival and is easily contacted within the village. We will definitely come back to Seashell Cottage in the near future.

Response from the manager It was lovely to meet you both and your lovely dog. I am sorry you felt the bathroom was cold. I have never had this comment before and have never felt that to be the case myself, but am aware that some people prefer a cooler house to a hot house. At this time of year in particular you can have four seasons in one day, so usually the open fire provided in the cottage is a quick way to get the house really toastie if this is your preference. I will check with other guests to get some more feedback on this issue. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Many Thanks Annabel

“Fantastic stay !!!”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2017

Perfect cottage in great location- loved the extras -wine and flowers and well stocked cupboards with all the basics, washing up liquid , candles, dishwasher tabs etc etc- things you would normally have to buy. Cottage was warm and cosy with the open fire and lots of blankets -really was home from home....almost like staying at a friends/family house rather than a rental property. Location was very peaceful with local pub and small shop and although the weather wasn't very kind to us with lots of rain we still explored the area with lots of help from the huge variety of leaflets and brochures at the cottage. Annabelle came to meet us on the first evening and she was so helpful and friendly- was lovely to know she was on hand just around the corner if we needed anything. Our son fell ill with a bug on arrival on our first day so she even advised us of the nearest location of the doctors surgery and pharmacy. Overall we had a great time at the cottage and will definitely recommend this property hopefully returning one day too !!

Response from the manager Thanks so much fora great review, I am glad the cottage met your expectation. Every year we try and improve on the cottages and provide the little extras which make life a bit easier when self catering. I hope your son is on the mend.
