Description

A DETAILED DESCRIPTION, ROOM BY ROOM

The kingsize bedroom on the first floor is situated adjacent to the bathroom and at the rear of the property. The twin bedroom, on the second floor is accessed by its own enclosed staircase and has a large dormer window located to the front of the property. Rest assured as each bed has a Hypnos pocket spring ortho mattress, a luxurious duvet and plump pillows!

Located on the first floor next to the kingsize bedroom, the contemporary shower-room has a double-sized cubicle and power-shower with trough hand basin, loo and large heated ladder towel rail.

Open plan to the kitchen with an open log fire and a large window to the rear of the property, the sitting and dining area has a sofa and chairs providing comfortable seating for four people, a large round dining table and four dining chairs.

The hi-fi has a Bluetooth connection for your phone. The wifi is fast in all rooms and there is a 32 inch TV in the sitting-room with Freeview channels only.

The kitchen is equipped for the experienced cook with an electric induction hob and oven, fridge and separate freezer, microwave, dishwasher and broad range of high quality hand-tools and utensils. A larder cupboard provides ample storage for dry goods and we provide herbs and spices for you to enjoy during your stay. A washing machine, clothes rack, iron and ironing board are all available too. Full recycling facilities are provided at the rear of the property.

GET COMFORTABLE

Heating and hot water is provided by a gas fed combi-boiler leading to generous radiators throughout the house. We provide an initial supply of logs for the fire. Fluffy white towels and crisp white bed linen are included and cleaning and laundry services are supplied weekly. The cottage has been recently decorated with a designers eye for detail and all rooms are furnished to a high standard. There is a modest selection of books and games for all ages to enjoy. Please note there are two sets of steep stairs in this property. Both have strong rope banisters and grab rails.

RIGHT ON YOUR DOORSTEP

Directly outside the front door there is a garden bench, which provides a good spot for a coffee or lunch. The house overlooks a generous square of grass, which is set back from the road - all beautifully maintained by the Council!

The harbour is a one minute walk from the property and rocky beaches five minutes walk away. A large sandy beach is two miles from the cottage in Elie, you can walk there easily along the coastal path or drive in five minutes.

There is a shop 200 yards up the hill from the cottage, open daily for essentials only.

There are two very good restaurants in the village - both serve locally caught fish and are licenced. The East Pier Smokehouse opens seasonally and is amazing - James smokes his own fish and then serves it and dressed crab, mackerel and lobster with chips and salad in a box! For more formal dining 16 West End is an award-winning fish restaurant with chef Craig Millar in charge.

Good pubs can be found locally in Elie and Pittenweem but not in St Monans. Elie has a great bake-shop and deli two miles away. One mile away there is an award-winning farm shop called Ardross selling a wide range of vegetables and organic meat. Anstruther five miles away has a large Co-op supermarket (open 6am till 11pm daily) and many more local shops.

At the top of the village in the old station yard there are a number of fish merchants selling fresh fish daily - this is highly recommended.

GOLF AND MORE!

For golf fans, St Andrews the home of golf is 12 miles away and there are several other local and municipal golf courses within a 30 minute drive from the village. There are tennis courts two miles away and an open air sea pool on the coast for the brave! Bikes and windsurfing kit can be hired in Elie.

WHERE THE HECK IS THE NEUK OF FIFE?

Edinburgh Airport is 35 miles away and Kirkcaldy train station is 20 miles away with regular trains to Edinburgh, St Andrews and beyond. To make the most of the area a car is recommended. That said the local bus service is quite good.
