Description
Casa Contea was created from an old farmhouse dating back to 1800, completely renovated. With its stone walls, the courtyard, the wooden beams, you can recreate the atmosphere of the ancient past, combined with the comfort of our days. Its elevated position, surrounded by forest, dominates the entire Valdichiana offering a glimpse of the Lake Trasimeno. With its swimming pool which enjoys a breathtaking view, where you can see in the distance Montepulciano and the outline of Mount Amiata, you can indulge in blissful relaxation, leaving behind the stresses and strains of everyday life. To really get the beauty and fragrance of the countryside, we recommend healthy walking and cycling among the many routes available in the area, including the famous passage of Hannibal. Its strategic location allows to reach, with just a few minutes drive, the most important Umbrian and Tuscan historical, cultural and gastronomic sites. Casa Contea lies at 9 Km from Cortona, an Etruscan city in which you can visit historical buildings of a great interest, such as Fortress or the hermitage of the Celle, founded by St. Francis. Lovers of art and archeology, will satisfy their curiosity by visiting the Diocesan Museum, containing works by Luca Signorelli.
The farmhouse is divided in 3 apartments, two of which are in the main building (one on the ground floor and the other one on the first level) and the last one is an independent cottage which lies at 20 mt from the main house. The main building is structured by two twins apartments which are both composed by a typical countryside livable kitchen separated from the living room by a brick arch. The living room is accessorized by the brick fireplace, a couple sofa-bed, LCD tv, and all the typical furniture of a farmhouse. Laterally both on the left and on the right you can find two ample double bedrooms with two bathrooms on each side. The outside garden of 8000 square meters has got an amazing panoramic view overlooking the Lake Trasimeno from side to side and the whole Valdichiana; it's furnished by a grill and a stoned pizza wood oven and a panoramic stoned patio with outdoor tables and chairs with umbrellas just beside a big swimming pool surrounded by a roses enclosure and secure parking inside. In addition, for the free use of the guests, there are 4 mountain bikes, a laundry and a little grove of trees with a vineyard and a olive grove in which it's possible to take a walk, free wi-fi connection.
During spring and summer the area is fulfilled by cultural and typical folklore events. About 38 km from Arezzo, which was a major lucumonies Etruscan, then Roman city of strategic importance. Center full of interesting monuments such as the amphitheater, the Cathedral, the Medici Fortress and the town hall. Among all its beauty stands the Romanesque church of Santa Maria della Pieve. He was renowned for its famous coral vases. About 30 km from Montepulciano, famous for its imposing Renaissance palaces, the elegance of its churches, but especially for its fine wine noble, well-known importance of international importance. About 73 km from the city of Siena has a fabulous repertoire and geographic environment, full of villages, historical memories and treasures of art. “Un universo parallelo”
Posto incantevole, immerso nella natura e isolato dal mondo cittadino. I proprietari sono due persone gentili e alla mano. Intorno alla location ci sono molte cose da visitare come l'eremo di San Francesco, Castiglione del Lago e Arezzo. Una volta li riesce difficile muoversi perché si è ipnotizzati dal fascino della natura. Nel mio soggiorno ho avuto la fortuna di vedere qualche animale selvatico immerso nella sua quotidianità e di scattare foto favolose. Consigliato a tutti.

“Wonderful house, with beautiful views and flexible set up.”
The house can in fact be viewed as three separate apartments each with it's own amenities. This gives great flexibility for people to have some quiet time, whether you're travelling with friends or family. The building itself is pretty, made of stone and on top of a hill providing wonderful views all around, with sunsets and the starry sky at night particular highlights. The pool is large and well-maintained. Each of the rooms was furnished well, with comfortable beds and good storage space. The only small complaint would be that each kitchen is not particularly well-equipped, just in terms of utensils and crockery, although combining the contents of all kitchens as we did towards the end worked better - especially since we all gathered to cook meals in one. Overall a wonderful place that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend with an excellent location (if you've got a car), a reasonable price and all the ingredients for a fantastic holiday.

“Incredible view with sunsets that make you glad to be alive”
This place is incredible. The pool is icing on a delicious cake of relaxation. Be sure to have a car with GPS and set up a place to meet the host before leaving. This place is very hard to find. Once you find it, you'll never want to leave. Except for day trips to the beautiful nearby cities and to the grocery store. Enjoy!!

“A marvellous vista every morning”
Our stay at Casa Contea was perhaps the best part of our visit to Tuscany. The photos accurately represent the property, in fact the vistas are far better in person. Terantola is a great town from which to base your travels of Tuscany and Umbria. Montepulciano is only 30 minutes away and Cortona is a short 10 minute drive. Our hosts were most helpful with tips for groceries, sightseeing and restos; and were very responsive when needed. We have used Airbnb several times before and this was a perfect experience (esp. the sightings of wild boar and foxes). The only thing to be aware of is that a car is required to access this 'mountain top' property. We'll be back!

“Beautiful little paradise in the south of Toscane.”
The view is breathtaking! The swimmingpool, the garden, the service, everything was perfect! The road to the cottage is a bit rough and takes about ten minute drive.

“A perfect getaway atop the Tuscan hills!”
High atop a hill, overlooking the breathtaking beauty of Tuscany, this is a perfect place to stay. We were with another couple for the entire week and on the last night my brother joined us and stayed in the apartment above. It felt like home! Perfectly appointed, incredibly comfortable beds, all the amenities we could need and wonderful hosts in Valentina and Ivano who even saved the day when we realized on our last night that we had no wine left! We could have stayed longer and hope to come back again soon! Gracie per tutti!

“La migliore vacanza in campagna al miglior prezzo”
Totalmente soddisfatti, un posto incantevole con una vista eccezionale. La casa Contea offre una struttura da sogno, rustica e con dettagli di alta qualità, una piscina immersa nel verde e una pace insuperabile per chi cerca una vacanza rilassante. Ha una posizione strategica, esattamente sul confine di umbria e toscana, che ci ha permesso di visitare molti paesi e luoghi turistici. A parte le qualità del posto c'è da sottolineare la gentilezza e la disponibilità della proprietaria sempre attenta a che non mi mancasse nulla.
