Description

Situated in the picturesque village of Fochabers, this recently renovated and new on the holiday market 200 year old Grade 'B' listed former Church of Scotland Manse is set in extremely secluded and professionally maintained grounds within a few minutes' walk of the banks of the river Spey, famous throughout the world for its Salmon fishing and scenery.

In the heart of the Scottish Whisky and Castle trails, this house provides groups of up to 9 the ideal base to explore the North East of Scotland, where dolphin spotting is possible at the WDCS wildlife centre, walks along the Speyside way, Tugnet ice house, monster bike trails, Speyside cooperage, golf courses, forest walks and during the winter months, skiing and snowboarding, mean there is something for everyone in this beautiful part of the world.

The rural village of Fochabers is situated 10 miles from the small Cathedral city of Elgin where there is the local train station and larger shops available.

The village itself is home to the world famous 'Speyfest' an annual festival of the best in traditional and contemporary Celtic music.

There is a spacious drive with ample parking for Five or Six cars and a large green lawn with children's football goalposts, along with a summer house complete with BBQ facilities.

The village shops and pubs are within a couple of minutes stroll from the end of the drive and public transport can also be picked up from the village square.

The property has a large basement (Take care on 200 year old well worn stone steps) with games room which includes an American style pool table (free to use if careful) and small Gym, complete with treadmill, bike, rowing machine etc.

The Ground floor comprises the main entrance hall, the main living room complete with suit of armour an open fire with wood supplied, the dining room, which can seat up to 12, the kitchen and the study/WC.

The living room also has a 50 inch television with Freeview and Blu-ray/DVD player complete with a large selection of films for all ages. (There is also a large collection of books, both factual and fiction for guests use).

The first floor comprises 3 bedrooms and the main bathroom, which has a Sauna, Shower with Steam facility and Whirlpool bath that seats 2 comfortably.

The master bedroom has a huge Super King size sleigh bed, 3m high corniced ceilings and an en-suite with roll top bath and double shower. It has Two large windows with views out over the gardens.

The second bedroom has a king size sleigh bed and en-suite shower room with electric shower and views over the front lawn.

The third bedroom has a king double bed with views to the rear of the property.

The final bedroom is on the top floor and has sloping (Coombed) ceilings. This room has a king size bed and a single and is very spacious. There is a vanity unit for brushing teeth etc. to save going to the main bathroom below. This bedroom has a window that looks out over the front lawn and out over the mature trees to the hills beyond.

All towels, bed linen, central heating, electric and wi-fi included. Beach towels are available for taking out of the property.

Unfortunately the property is no smoking and no pets are allowed in the house due to owners allergies.

For piece of mind and the security of guests there is a external CCTV system monitoring the grounds. Please respect this property as it is our family home and do not organise any parties. A caretaker is on hand to assist with any issues that may arise and give assistance to you if needed. NO STAG/HEN PARTIES AND NO GROUPS OF UNDER 25 YEAR OLD PLEASE.

For insurance purposes the maximum occupancy is 9 persons with a disclaimer to be signed on arrival.

Getting around

Local taxi firm Ace Taxis provide an excellent service and can provide distillery tours etc. Car hire is available in Elgin from Arnold Clark Buses pass through the village regularly going in both East and West directions.

The keys will be in a lock box with the code being sent to you just prior to arrival and the caretaker will come around to ensure everything is working ok and to ask you to sign a simple disclaimer about no pets, parties and limit of 9 people maximum in the property etc

“Best Trip Ever!”

I stayed in the old Manse house early August 2021 with 8 other friends. The house was incredible, plenty of room for all of us without feeling on top of each other. The bed rooms were great and nearly all had a bathroom per bedroom. Best part of the house was the sauna and pool room which were both in action a lot. John and Shona were very helpful with any information we needed and were even very kind enough to let us arrive to the house before check in and then leave after check in which helped us so much with our travel plans. We were met by Robbie at the start and end of the trip and he was very welcoming with showing us around the house and giving us tips for things to do in the area. The house it’s self is very well located with many good pubs in walking distance in Fochabers, and then the coast only being 15 min drive away. All in all I couldn’t recommend a better place to stay in Scotland and would definitely come back for another trip. Thank you very much John, Shona and Robbie. Louis
