“A comfortable stay”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2020

The cabin was great - it had almost everything we needed on arrival. However we were missing a mattress, the bathroom light was not working, the hot water was not working, and the hot tub was not Prepared for use. Despite this, the housekeeper arrived later with the missing mattress and a replacement for the bathroom light, which was greatly appreciated and she arranged for the water to be looked at in the morning. The hot tub was far too cold to use and, when queried, someone was out to look at it within the hour. This did mean that we were unable to use it on the first night, which was disappointing. On the second day the water was sorted and the hot tub had heat up a small bit, but it was not what we would describe as a ‘hot’ tub, more like a warm tub. The temperature was not able to be changed by ourselves as the button did not function properly. This was really quite disappointing as we had paid extra for this and were all very excited to spend some relaxation time in it. The wood burner was used to provide some late night comfort and heat but this set off the fire alarm repeatedly and resulted in us having to open all doors and windows as well as wafting the air to stop the alarms from continuing. The fire was very small, the door on the burner was closed and the vents were set appropriately yet this still caused the alarms to be set off. This meant that we were uneasy about using the fire as we did not want to disturb any neighbours or cause distress to ourselves or others nearby. The cabin itself was perfect for what we wanted - plenty of space for us all to play games, get dressed, clean, cook, shower etc and it is very close to the pub and local shop meaning we could pop out to get any extras very easily. The walks nearby were also very good. Overall the cabin and the stay was good, but was let down by the lack of heat in the hot tub, the inability to use the wood burner without worry and a few things not being fully in place on arrival. This is a great getaway, with great views and very well priced. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would consider a return visit if the mentioned above things were improved.
