Description
At the bottom of the steep cobbled bank in the heart of the quaint fishing village of Staithes you'll find our Grade II listed fisherman's cottage. When I first saw it the word that sprung to mind was "bijou". Since we bought Lahney Cottage in February 2016, it has undergone a complete refurbishment, with new furniture, cooker and hob, equipment, new flooring and carpets, as well as being redecorated throughout. The kitchen is very well equipped, the lounge has a TV with DVD player, internet radio with Bluetooth speaker and, of course, wi-fi. On the first floor you will find the cosy double bedroom and the bathroom with an electric shower over the bath. The cottage has electric wall heaters in the rooms and also a log burner in the lounge. Short term parking is available for unloading and there is car parking available at the top of the village, about a 5 minute walk from the cottage (we do provide a permit for the council Pay & Display car park, but this doesn’t guarantee you a spot, so parking fees may apply). Your dog is welcome for no extra charge, but we do like to know if they will be there, so please let us know when you book. Lahney Cottage provides a fantastic base for exploring Staithes, Whitby and the beautiful North York Moors.

I’m glad you enjoy your stay at Lahney Cottage, although I am somewhat baffled by your negative comments. I don’t state that the cottage has a sea view, so I’m not too sure why you felt the need to point this out, neither to I or the photos suggest it is anything other than small. If it seemed damp this would probably have been caused by the fan not being used in the bathroom when showering, the house manual does state that the fan should be used. It is a 200 year old cottage and a listed building, so I am unable to change the style of the windows.

PS you are absolutely correct, Staithes is not suitable for people with disabilities, it is a very old fishing village built on a cliff, famous for its cobbled streets, quirky cottages and little alleyways

“Lahney Cottage Staithes”
Lovely Cottage excellent host who has thought of everything. This Bijou Cottage has a peaceful quiet vibe that makes it a relaxing stay. For those who are worried about Covid Eva has a Covid 19 Certificate for the cottage and it was spotless on arrival. A nice touch was the welcome pack of Bread Milk & Butter. Instructions on how to use everything is clearly shown to help you navigate the log burner & kitchen amenities which we didn't need to use. Booking meals in the local pubs is recommended the Cod & Lobster was my favourite. The weather was fantastic which also made the holiday. Will definitely stay their again.
