About this listing
This newly renovated studio is completely self contained within a secure garden of the host's house of residence. It has all you need for a relaxing visit (double bed and room for a fold extra single bed/ travel cot if requested). There are excellent transport links into London.
The space
The garden studio is brand new and located at the bottom of our garden which is a independent building to the main house. There is a code lock to enter the garden so you can come and go as you please. The bathroom is very compact with a toilet, basin and shower. All the space in the bathroom is used to its maximum capacity with little spare space so if you would prefer a larger bathroom this is not the property for you. There is a small kitchen which is ideal for making tea, coffee, breakfast and heating meals etc. It contains a microwave, kettle, toaster, oven and single ring ceramic hob as well as a refrigerator.
The guest can relax on the veranda outside the studio overlooking the garden and use the driveway on Ockley Road in front of the studio if driving.
Other things to note
Streatham is about 6 miles from the centre of London, it is conveniently reached by 2 train stations which are both within a 5-10 mins walk up a convenient high street.
In terms of accessing the underground to go to central London you have the choice of either taking a bus ride to Brixton on the Victoria Line or a bus ride to Tooting Bec/Balham both on the Northern Line. You can also catch a train 1 stop from Streatham Hill Station to Balham on the Northern Line too. The bus stop is less than 5 minutes from the property and there are numerous buses running from it. The bus ride is very short too. So once you are familiar with your route it is very easy.
This has a good collection of shops and amenities: a supermarket just across the road from our house, 2 other supermarkets, several good pubs, some good restaurants, general fast food chains a Cinema (recently refurbished) and library all within 2 mins walk of the garden studio. There are 2 lovely commons (parks) at the end of our road, Tooting common, and about 10-15 mins walk Streatham Common. lots of families and dog walkers can be found on both enjoying their little oasis of green in London!
You have the Imperial War Museum a few miles away and the vibrant Southbank with the Tate museum a mile or two further from our house.
If wishing to go to Wimbledon Tennis we are a 5 minute walk from Streatham Train Station which is short direct route to Wimbledon Train Station.
We are a 5 minute walk from Tooting Bec Lido which is the biggest outdoor swimming pool in Europe. Although not heated! Something for the brave or summer.
