Description from owner
Description
Truly luxurious four star holiday accommodation in a tastefully converted byre, set in a tranquil, rural location, but ideally located for all that the south- west has to offer. The cottage is beautifully presented with hard wood floors and finishes throughout, including a wood-burning stove in the spacious living room, sumptuous beds chosen for their quality and comfort, and fully equipped to make a superb holiday cottage. Enclosed courtyard garden with an outlook over the owners' adjoining garden.
Approximately two miles away from the village of Crossmichael with a well-stocked shop and pub. Alternatively, five minutes drive to the market town of Castle Douglas, with its reputation as a food town, with many fine independent retailers, as well as excellent coffee shops, restaurants and galleries. On the outskirts of Castle Douglas, you will find The National Trust for Scotland's Threave Garden and estate and Threave Castle. Or find time to visit the beautiful artists' town of Kirkcudbright, with its busy harbour and MacLellan's Castle, as well as the National Trust's Broughton House, home of artist E.A. Hornel. The wonderful scenery and quiet lanes make it ideal for cycling (secure bike storage available) or take time to enjoy our unspoiled and quiet beaches. Younger visitors are well-catered for with Ernespie Farm Park at Castle Douglas, The Cocoa Bean Factory at Twynholm, or Dalscone Farm Park or Mabie Farm Park near Dumfries.
Private use of the full house and garden. The two bedrooms can either be arranged with one super king size bed or two single beds in the en-suite bedroom and one king size bed in the other bedroom. Please advise on preference when booking. Cot and high chair are available in the property. Full cleaning protocols undertaken at each changeover to ensure the property is Covid secure.

“Stylishly converted, spacious and well located”
Burnbrae Byre, located next to the owners' home on a quiet minor road, has been stylishly converted to provide spacious accommodation for two couples. It is spotlessly clean and well equipped, with plenty of storage space both in the kitchen and the bedrooms. It is a great base for touring Dumfriess and Galloway and is less than 10 minutes' drive from Castle Douglas with its restaurants an shops, and provides ideal space to relax when you return in the evenings. Thoroughly recommended.

“Second visit is just as good as the first!”

“A perfect pet-friendly place in lovely rural setting.”
This little gem is set in a beautiful rural setting but not far (5-10 minute drive) from all that Castle Douglas has to offer. Plenty of eateries and a few pet friendly. Other places to visit are the lovely beaches and nearby country estates, all within short travelling distances. The Byre itself, is beautifully set out, with everything you may need for a home from home. The beds are comfortable and the views are amazing. We had rabbits hopping and pheasants strutting passed our windows, oh a a morning moo from the cows in the opposite field. What more can you ask for! If I had to give any negatives, it would be very minor. Please provide bath sheets, me and the girls like to wrap ourselves up in them after our shower/bath, but we couldn’t do that. The other minor thing would be to get a blind to pull down on the back door, for a bit more privacy. Don’t let these minor details put you off booking here though, more of the smaller towels were offered and Willow stopped barking at her own reflection eventually I have already told some of my family and friends what a wonderful place it was, I will definitely be recommending it to others. Thank you Alison and Andrew for a lovely stay.

“A beautiful byre in a perfect location!”
I am currently staying at Burnbrae Byre with my partner, our 5 year old son and our two dogs. This was our first holiday as a complete family, and the Byre has been absolutely ideal. It is beautifully… More

“really modern byre conversion”
No expense spared on this conversion. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Myself, husband and our dog stayed for 3 nights. weather was a bit miserable with lots of rain but had a lovely day at Sandyhills beach which is well worth a trip. Front door is glass so not much privacy - perhaps a curtain or blind would be useful.

“Best Christmas ever!”
Stayed at Burnbrae Byre to celebrate Christmas and our Silver Wedding Anniversary with our two grown up boys and two dogs. Had an amazing stay and didn’t want to leave! The Byre is gorgeous, absolute luxury. Everything is of the very highest quality from the beds and bed linens to the dinnerware and furnishings. The attention to detail is incredible. We loved the log burning stove! We received a very warm welcome from Alison and would like to thank her and Andrew for their attention to detail in creating accommodation which truly allowed us to have the best Christmas ever. We will never forget it and will definitely return.
