Description from owner

Description

Welcome to our family house. We've been working hard to create a stylish, welcoming house for guests that wish to relax with friends & family either for a weekend break or a longer holiday. It's a spacious, Victorian, detached house where we live in between our guest visits. Our love of interiors has led us to bring this charming house into the 21st century whilst preserving the original Victorian features - ceiling roses, cornicing, original doors, tall ceilings, wooden floors and adding modern conveniences such as open plan space, light, limestone flooring and modern appliances into the kitchen and bathrooms.

A warm and stylish interior helps you relax and enjoy your stay in comfort.

Large beds with fresh, crisp bedlinen invite you to slumber and lighting at the touch of a button creates a soothing atmosphere. Sheepskin rugs snuggle your toes as you climb in/out of bed.

In the kitchen an American style fridge freezer with fresh water & ice dispenser provides lots of space for refreshments. Whilst the stone island unit invites you to gather around chatting or prepping your next delicious meal. It also has a handy round prep sink.

Underfloor heating extends through the kitchen, dining, garden room and in the ensuite to Bedroom 1 adding a little luxury for your feet.

Bi-fold doors lead you onto the terrace & private garden where there is a charcoal BBQ, dining table & chairs and outdoor relaxed seating to enjoy al fresco meals.

A large modern wood burning stove in both the garden room and sitting room add wonderful ambience for when it's a cool evening.

There are 3 bright and welcoming bathrooms and a seperate WC on ground floor.

The private courtyard garden at the rear provides a mediterranean vibe space to relax whilst also providing a lovely airy feel to the house as gorgeous light filters through.

Dimmable lights throughout the house create just the ambience you wish.

Easy to use window shutters on original large, sash windows operate throughout the house for creating cosy nights in.

There are 2 Freeview TV's for viewing choice, a 6ft pool table in the snug and a Yamaha keyboard for anyone who enjoys playing some tunes. There are fun board games and card games too.

The house is south facing so lots of lovely natural light bounces around throughout the day.

“Fantastic Victoran House”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2018

Visiting & staying in Eskbank & this lovely house was fantastic! Some houses which are described as “5 bedroom” can be somewhat disappointing. This was not. Five large bedrooms with lots of space in the kitchen and lounge areas meant that our family of 6 felt very at ease and never confined. The standard of furniture and amenities were very high and it felt like staying in a boutique hotel. Showers & bathroom facilities were excellent and catered well for all ages of our family. A large family sized table in the kitchen allowed and encouraged family eating and talking – to discuss the days adventures and to plan the trips planned for the next day. Eskbank is a perfect location to discover Edinburgh. The city centre can be reached by car or public transport with ease. With simple sat nav and maps the location offers access to both the city and also the surrounding areas, including the nearby coastal towns offering a wonderful contrast to simply visiting the city. Another important plus to this location is easy access to a large Tesco supermarket, 5 minutes in a car and a local pub which can be walked to for those occasions when a local night is preferable to refresh tired legs! I can very much recommend this wonderful Victorian house for a family stay. If your looking for quality and a great base from which to discover Edinburg, this Holiday let is perfect. We will be staying there again – can't wait.

“An ideal location for visiting Edinburgh and also enjoying the East Lothian countryside.”

Reviewed 17 Mar 2018

My family and I stayed at this wonderfully charming house in Eskbank last summer. It’s location is ideal just minutes from Edinburgh city yet also just a few minutes to the beautiful East Lothian Countryside. The beautiful cathedral, cafes in Edinburgh, National Museum of Edinburgh. We also made a trip to North Berwick to see the puffins. We loved escaping the city after a frenetic day at shows & shopping, the peace and quiet was just what we needed. A few times we chose to go into town in the evening to eat with friends we were meeting and this was very easy too. We took a taxi and the fair was very reasonable. Our teenage children wanted to visit Roslyn Chapel and we had a beautiful walk along the glen later in the afternoon, the cafe kept us well stocked up in preparation. Another day my husband played a round of gold in North Berwick and I explored the lovely shops in the high street. All in all we just loved our holiday in Scotland and staying at Eskbank Terrace was a treat to come back to every day. Sitting in the garden room we could relax and leave the bi-fold doors wide open so we enjoyed the garden. The summer nights were gloriously long just right for lots of chats about our filled days. It was also really great for the children having their own large shower room on the top floor. We loved the very spacious master bedroom and slept like logs in the French Walnut bed! We would definitely love to return to this beautiful house!
