Description
Villa IRINI is a private traditional property with a lovely swimming pool. It has been renovated according to the Cretan traditional architecture. It can accommodate up to eleven persons in four separate apartments which are placed in different levels.
The visitors will surely be impressed by the space which is decorated with antiques and the exterior environment which is immersed in the Cretan landscape. The charming swimming pool offers moments of relaxation and calmness under the sun, while the guests can enjoy peaceful shady spots in the yard with local mulberry trees. The upper level balconies offer a spectacular view of the gorge and mountains where goats and sheep live.
Apokoronas is a historic and beautiful area of Crete with a landscape of wild mountains and fertile valleys. It was a place where emperors and lords of Byzantine Empire could reside and enjoy wealth and beauty. Vafes is one of the villages of Apokoronas (32km far from Chania, 28km far from Rethymno and 110km far from Heraklion). It's the only village of the prefecture of Chania which has been declared a historic preservable place because of history and traditional architecture.
The beautiful stone walls outside, the traditional oven, the barbeque and the swimming pool offer the chance of a unique and peaceful stay in beautiful natural surroundings away from the bustle of tourism. Scents and colours of the thyme, oregan, jasmine and other Cretan plants and flowers give the visitors unique moments. The area has traditional cafes and taverns with delicious Cretan plates and industries with local products (wine, cheese etc.). Relax in a unique place and take a journey into the past time. Information about the area, books with Cretan nutrition and maps of the island are also provided.
Apartments’ configuration:
1) ‘’Classic’’ (4 guests max): This apartment consists of a spacious bedroom with a double bed (1.65x2.03m) and a living room with a sofa bed, an extra 4th bed and an equipped kitchen with a dining table. It has also one bathroom with bathtub and two large balconies with view of the mountains and the gorge.
2) ‘’Patitiri’’ (3 guests max): This apartment includes one bedroom with a double bed (1.65x2.03m) and an exclusive unique bathroom inside the rocks. It has also a spacious living room with an equipped kitchen, a second bathroom and a dining table. It also includes a traditional loft (Ontas) with a big sofa bed.
3) ‘’Petrino’’ (2 guests max): This studio consists of a double bed (1.65x2.03m), a bathroom with shower, an equipped kitchen and a dining table.
4) ‘’Mouria’’ (2 guests max): This tiny but gorgeous studio consists of a double bed (1.65x2.03m), a small kitchen and a bathroom with shower.

“Fabuleux pour se retrouver entre amis en toute indépendance.”
Merci, cet endroit est juste magnifique! Très rustique dans l'architecture mais tellement réaliste et parfaitement intégré au site. C'est un dépaysement total et tellement reposant. La piscine même petite est géniale et vu la température extérieure a fait partie de l'endroit que nous avons le plus utilisé. Nous avons loué tout le site, s'il fallait le partager avec d'autres vacancier, se serait peut être moins détendu car la promiscuité dans ce cas est réelle. Je recommande cette location. Michalis a été très à l'écoute et très réactif, nos le remercions, vivement.

“Irini Houses Vafes Chania Crete - beautiful views and traditional villa”
We had the most amazing stay here. The houses are just spectacular. We had all 4 between 2 families as we wanted the privacy. In fact, each family had lots of privacy as one was on the upper story and one below. We had the below which is where the pool was. Pool was a fab size. Much bigger than expected as kids and adults were diving in!! Very clean and very sunny during the day. The houses we counted had 7 terraces between the 4 of them. We were blown away by the old Cretian style and it reminded us of mama Mia. Big old wooden doors and all on split levels. Lots of steps!! Was built into a cliff so some may find it hard to get up and down etc. Bathroom and kitchen were very basic. However we used the villa as a base to explore the west of Crete. Which we certainly did. You will need a car if you stay here as it’s a drive even to get milk. But sea and Mountain View’s and brilliant Location to go to either Chania or Rethymno. Highly recommend Irini for its location, pool and the style and settings
