Description
A charming little country house on the hills just above Massa. Immersed in chestnut forests and surrounded by magnificent mountain and sea views. Only 5 minutes' drive to Massa centre (10 minutes by bus) and 15 minutes to the beaches. At 300 m above sea level, with a lovely garden, the place is cool in the summer heat, but warm during the winter. Great staging post for mountain climbers, mountain bike enthusiasts and hikers who love forest trails and walks. Plenty of nature to see and a lovely stream to cool off in is nearby.
The holiday home is developed over two floors. The first floor has a terrace and kitchen. Upstairs in an open plan style, one finds a spacious double bed, and a comfortable sofa which folds into a double bed in the lounge. It is all one large room upstairs(There is no wall/door between the bedroom and the lounge). Then in a separate room is a small, but neat and functional bathroom with shower.

Ideal for a couple, even with max 2 small children. If 4 adults, 2 of them need to sleep on the sofa bed in the same open room.

“We had a great time, can't wait to go back!”
We were made extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Very useful that the owners both spoke fluent English, lots of advice about where to visit and the locality, only problem there was too much and not enough time. The property was fine, not a five star hotel but very homely. Nice little terrace with table and chairs to sit and have a glass of local vino. In the evening fireflies and tea lights made for a very pleasant setting. You need to be mobile, there is a short walk from the road with steps, oh the steps, as one local told me in Italian 'just take it steady', I don't speak Italian but I understood what he said. The location is amazing, if you look out one side you can see the Carrara mountains (where the marble comes from) and then the other direction you have a great view of Massa and the bay. The village is nice, there is a great pizza restaurant and a bar where they make their own wine, also a small shop. From the train station in Massa we were able to get to Florence and Pisa really easily and not too expensive either. This is not a tourist orientated area but there are a lot of places to visit. The population is made up mostly of everyday Italians, some of who probably have never left the area but we were made to feel so welcome, they are some of the nicest people we have ever met. The food is great and the wine, well what can I say. The things we least liked about our trip were the tourist areas with people trying to sell you 'Rolex' watches etc and at the start getting used to driving a left hand drive car, that got better and by the end of the week I was driving like a native.
