Restored traditional country house with private swimming pool (12m x 6m)
Perfectly situated for exploring the beautiful Garfagnana, and Lucca province, this delightful 4 bedroom house is set 1 hour or so north of Lucca.
A wonderful feature of this lovely property - along with the shady porch area - is the extensive covered loggia which runs along the front of the house, perfect for alfresco dining and relaxing. From here, and from the splendid pool, which features a hydro-massage area there are wonderful views over the valley to the wooded hills.
This 4 bed stone cottage boasts 2 double bedrooms and 2 twin rooms, along with two shower rooms and a further WC. There is a third shower room accessible form garden.
There is a large comfy double aspect living room with open fire, TV, DVD, CD player and Free Wifi. A traditional style kitchen diner with washing machine, dishwasher, 5 ring hob, counter top oven, microwave, toaster etc ,and fridge/freezer
Outside, is the 'piece di resistance' – firstly there is a covered living room leading from the internal lounge, complete with lighting and conservatory style furniture, then there is the extensive covered loggia with al fresco dining and relaxing facilities. The views from here over the private pool and the stunning countryside give a real sensation of peace…
Also in the grounds is the private pool of 12M x 6M with Roman Steps for sitting. This great pool also has its own hydro - massage area.
There is plenty of space for playing, and a good sized BBQ too.
This beautiful farmhouse also boasts animals (fenced away) for the children to visit whenever they wish - Alpacas, chickens and tortoises.
The owner can also arrange a 1 hour trek for you to each take your own Alpaca walking! The cost is E25 per person. Children just love this experience!
A little about location:
The property is situated 1.5 km from the village of San Romano, which has a bar, and small supermarket. Further afield is the town of Castelnuovo which is a 15 minute drive, and has all facilities – bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, famous Thursday morning market.
There are further large villages closer than town such as Piazza Al Serchio which has supermakets, restaurants, and a main line train station for when one wishes to explore without the car.
The mediaeval town of Barga is just 30 minutes away. Pisa is an hour and 30 min drive, Florence 2 hrs, and the breathtaking medieaval walled city of Lucca just under an hours drive.
All in all a perfect mix of rural retreat, with a mere 10-minute drive taking you up into the mountains, and the Natural Park of Orecchiella for wonderful walking, unusual wildlife and rare fauna; bocce and cheese throwing, but also a good base for exploring the towns of the area.
TOURIST TAX - Do note that there is a local stay tax applicable at €1 per person per night, up to a maximum of 5 nights. This does not apply to children under 14.

“Stunning views and relaxing stay”
Our family of 6 stayed here in late August 2015. The pool, though unheated was used daily by the kids, even on a rainy day. There was plenty of space both inside the house and in the immaculately kept grounds. It's very peaceful there, the only sounds being the pool filter and the peacock. We loved the outdoor area where we ate all our meals. Thanks to the beautiful shelter it was fine to eat out there in the rain even and enjoy the spectacular views. We were not troubled by mosquitos either which were a problem just an hour further away. The bathrooms, the pool and the views were the best we've ever had in a holiday house. We also loved the local pizzeria and the local high ropes park. Just be prepared for a long trek from the airport on mountain roads, it's worth it.
