Description from owner

Description

This cosy two bedroom apartment is located in the historic city center of Siena (inside the city walls) approximately 300 meters distant from „Piazza del Campo“.

The apartment is on the third floor of a small typical, ancient Sienese town house built in the 16th century. The street of the apartment is one of those classical medieval streets which are typical for Siena and is inhabited only by Sienese residents. Staying in this „contrada“ you may feel like being Sienese instead of being tourist.

All the main attractions of the historic centre are within walking distance, so you do not need a car. In case you come by train or bus you may take a taxi which is just a 5 to 10 minutes drive to get to our place.

If you come with your own car you can leave it at the public car park „San Francesco“ which is just a 5 minutes walk away. Escalators bring you comfortably close to the parking as well as to the bus stop of local shuttle bus.

The bus terminal of „Via La Lizza“ is just a 4 minutes walk. Frequent bus services to multiple places in Tuscany and to many destinations in Italy (Rome airport, Milan, Naples, etc) are offered from there. So you can reach nearly any city in Tuscany or Italy by bus.

The apartment has been recently renovated maintaining the typical Senese style of the medieval beamed ceilings, traditional „cotto“ floor tiles and doors traditionally made of red chestnut wood. It is furnished with typical tuscan antique furniture to make you experience Siena at it's best.

This apartment is ideal for 2 to 4 people and is composed by

- a living room with fully equipped kitchenette and single sofa-bed (with perfect duckboard, 80 x 190)

- a double bed room with king size bed (with air conditioning and heating)

- a small room with one single bed (80 x 190) with roof -light

- a bath room with shower, toilette, washbasin

Please check our floor plan for the exact room lay out.

Please note that the displayed price is for 2 people. For any extra person there is a supplement of € 17,00 per night .

Bed linen, towels, air condition and internet usage are included in the price.

The apartment is an ideal base for a family of three to four people that want to experience life in this wonderfully preserved medieval city and may also want to discover its surroundings: Chianti, Val D'Orcia and many Tuscan cities.

There is free internet access (WiFi) is available in the apartment. Our rate includes: linen and towels and all utilities like internet, heating and air condition.

As the flat is located on the third floor (without elevator) of an ancient Sienese town house the stairs are narrow and steep and may not be suitable for senior citizens.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review. After reading your review I noticed that you have not read our ad thoroughly. We have displayed an exact floor plan which shows the apartment perfectly in it's dimensions . Besides the images of our advertisement show the apartment "exactly as it is" . In our advertisement we have explained that the apartment has one (not two) double bed room, one comfortable sofa bed ( 90 cm by 190 cm) and one very small room with a bed with the size of 90 cm by 190 cm. So this apartment is perfect i.e. for a couple, a travel group of 2 to 4 easy going friends or a family with 1 or 2 children. We have also stated the total square footage of the apartment so if one reads the description thoroughly and / or contacts us for further specifications will not find any suprises caused by misleading personal ideas. Important to say that Siena is a "medieval city" and the city council does all to maintain the medieval architecture and room lay out of the houses "inside the city walls". Due to this cirumstance any apartment or restaurant or bar in Siena is always very small and space is very thight. This is not a problem of our apartment but of all places inside the city walls of Siena. This means that the architectural structure and appearance may not be changed in any means. Thanks to these But the reason why people come to Siena is to experience the particulaity of Siena and the medieval spirit this city has. Please note that - as stated in my advertisement the condo is from the 16th century and does have these particularities (stairs, space, etc) however was renovate with much efforts and decorated with much love for small details to offer our guests an unique experience. Your complaints of missing cleaning of the apartment and dishes can not be followed up as none of our guests has made any similar experience because we take much care of cleaning and curing this apartment. The light in the stairs keeps switched on for 10 minutes before it shuts off. Time enough to get to the apartment. Besides there is a light switch on each floor to switch on the light. That the chair broke is very odd especially as the lady had a pillow next to hear to not get harmed "when she sits at the dining table". Very strange.. no further comment. Needless to respond to any further of your complaints as I talked to all subsequent guests and none has experience similar. Important to emphasize, that nevertheless Sabine has spent more than 2 and a half hours to assist you in finding an alternative accommodation and the circumstance that you got paid back the full rent we have received from Holidaylettings (considering you have used the apartment for nearly 2 days) none of your party has talked in a well mannered and descent way to Sabine but had blamed her in a very rude and inacceptable way. Your behaviour and way of talking to a young lady who tried her very best to help you was completely inappropriate. I need to say that all of you are a very poor mannered and the complaints had just the aim to get you rent paid back.

Response from the owner Dear Joseph, thank you very much for your review and your comments which are much appreciated. I am very happy that you enjoyed staying in my apartment. Your are right the position of the apartment is excellent and just some steps distant from the Piazza de Campo. As the period the condo was built ranges back to the 16th century (!) the stairs are of course are a bit irregular as the marble used for it is very old. But this is one of the particularities of Siena. One tries to maintain the historic architecture to maintain the very special spirit of this unique city. As I am aware of the stairs I have underlined in my add that the apartment is not suitable for handicaped people of for little children. To dry the dishes there is a special place inside the cupboard above the sink . One puts the washed dishes on the grid inside the cupboard and the dishes will dry :-) . This is the way it works in Siena, where space is very much limited . Besides we also supply a towel to dry the dishes. Unfortunately we had some guests right before your check in who caused some damage ( They broke 2 chairs, dishes, glasses and some other faucets) and we where not able to have it fixed before your check in. We favored not to disturb you but would have fixed it if you would have asked for during your stay. I am very sorry about this but want to assure any future travelers that we have already taken good care of everything as I care pretty much about my home. It is unclear to me why you quoted the sink and the shower substandard. The shower is covered by marble tiles and the shower it selves works all good. Many guest have confirmed this. Please kindly note that the water pressure does not depend on the water provision of the condo but of the water pressure provided by the city of Siena. Means if the water pressure is low, this is due to the general water pressure in Siena and is low or high in all houses means it is all over the same. I have no influence on this. Just one important note referring this issue. As there was an unusual heat in Italy this year the water providers in middle and south of Italy have reduced the quantity of water as there was just simply not enough water. Again, thank you for your comments as they help me to improve our service and better understand our guests needs. Thank you for staying in my place.
