Getting around

Oban is a thriving small town, 12 miles west, with a extensive choice of shops, supermarkets, hotels and restaurants. It is the Gateway to the Isles so there is a large number of ferry routes to the islands to choose from as well as many small boat trips. Most people travel up by car but we do have visitors that come up by rail. We are just a mile from the railway station. We can most times be around to pick you up. A lot of our visitors choose to hire a car as the buses and trains although regular do not run as often as in a city! Cyclists have miles of quiet country road to explore, including a brand new cycle route from Oban to Fort William with large sections of free of motor traffic.

“Great stay”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2022

Very nice and peace place to stay. Incredible views and 5 mins to local shop, post office, cafe and golf course (all excellent). Shame the pub is closed. 20 mins to Oban. We will be back!

“Quiet peaceful home from home with added panache”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2019

Mountain View was set in the most idyllic location. Very peaceful and entirely what the doctor ordered for a break to celebrate retirement. The surrounding views of Loch Etive and Ben Cruachan were awe inspiring. Even the local hoodlums were fun (the chickens) Fiona and Ian, the owners, whilst on site were completely unobtrusive.

Response from the owner Apologies for not replying sooner. Thank you for your great review. Glad you had such a great stay with us. The chickens are a laugh, they all have their own character and keep us amused as well. Would love to have you back again in the future. Fiona

“An outstanding location and a great place to visit”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2016

There were several lovely walks from Mountain view. We also enjoyed a trip to Kererra which was great. We hired segways at Glencoe which was harder than expected but fun. We would highly recommend the Taynuilt Hotel for managing to serve great food without being the slightest bit pretentious. We had a fabulous week in Taynuilt.
