A recent guest wrote in our guest book..."this place is beyond beautiful"...

Sitting close to the top of Bear Cove Mountain, our guests enjoy our wonderful, like new, very private luxury mountain home....with two bedrooms, two baths and its great location....it is in the very heart of the Smoky Mountain activities! Special features include a breathtaking view of the Smoky Mountains from most rooms including the screened porch and deck, a large hot tub on the screened porch (where you're safe from all the outside critters) a remote controlled gas log fireplace, a beautiful cathedral ceiling in the Great Room, and an outdoor fire pit for... those wonderful campfires.

In addition to the hot tub, the large, comfortable screened porch has rockers, a teak wood table and chairs and even a comfortable daybed for those naps after hiking. The deck is great for relaxing on the swing and enjoying the spectacular short and long range views, grilling out and dining under the umbrella or rocking and enjoying the wonderful feeling that comes with being in the mountains.

We are centrally located for ALL of the Smoky Mountain activities! We offer a great location, just minutes to Bryson City, the Gateway to the Smokies...the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad...Fontana Lake, a beautiful mountain lake where ;you can swim, fish and rent a pontoon boat for half or the entire day...the Nantahala Outdoor Center for whitewater rafting, horseback riding, biking, and fun restaurants...Cherokee, you can try your luck at Harrah's Casino...Deep Creek for tubing, hiking, and picnics...the Smoky Mountain Country Club which is a beautiful mountain course and open to the public...the Blue Ridge Parkway...where is there a more beautiful drive? And maybe best of all...Ingles Supermarket is only five minutes away!

But...if you're looking for complete seclusion, getting totally away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life...and doing nothing more than relaxing, reading a good book and enjoying being alone together...You will love Retreat in the Sky...our view is majestic and our only neighbors are the birds and occasional wild turkeys that come to visit...

  I lost my husband of 34 years in 2005 and simply didn't want to return to the mountains until my dear friends convinced me it would do me good to go with them for a relaxing week-end at the Nelson's " retreat in the sky. I'm so thankful I went because we all had such a wonderful time. The home was impeccably decorated and had every amenity you could possibly ask for. The views were breathtaking particularly from the deck. The home sits on top of the mountain so it was as though we could just reach up and touch the clouds! Our days were spent exploring the many shops in Bryson City or nearby towns and our evenings were filled with laughter just relaxing in the jacuzi, playing card games & sharing life's stories. We are presently working out details for our next "Golden" getaway this summer at the Nelson's Retreat and we can't wait!

  A Spectacular Vacation

  My husband and I enjoyed an awesome vacation at Retreat in the Sky. The views are priceless and the home is beautiful, cozy, clean, comfortable and artfully decorated. Not only did our vacation include rest and relaxation in a beautiful, peaceful setting, we also ventured out for some fun and adventure. We enjoyed tubing @ Deep Creek, golfing @ Smoky Mountain Golf Course, and some great dining in and about Bryson City. I only regret that we didn't have time for white water rafting and trying the zip lines. That's in the plan for our next trip
  
  Thank you Ty and Sandy for sharing your wonderful cabin and providing everything we needed for a great vacation. We've vacationed at many mountain cabins, but this cabin and experience was the best. We can't wait to come back.

  This property is the most fabulous you can pick in these mountains or anywhere, for that matter of fact. The views are breathtaking, the accomodations out rank any 5 star anywhere in the world, the weather superb, cannot relate the sta experience, so grand. Try this for yourself, you'll fall in love all over again with whoever or whatever !!!
