From the second we entered this amazing property we were overwhelmed with the unbelievable views inside and out!!! This home is indescribably beautiful and impressively appointed in every way and it's setting overlooking Papagayo Bay makes it impossible to take one's eyes off the gorgeous views from every room in the villa. The sunsets over the infinity pool into the ocean looked like molten lava entering the bay every single night. Our daughter, the chef woman, could not believe the culinary excellence of the kitchen. Adriana and Marisol were gifts and became our best friends during our stay. Several days of our trip we walked or jogged from the villa down to the beautiful beach and back, and the hill up to the house made for a good workout, but was not too difficult or too hot in the mornings. The proximity from the villa to our excursions, Palo Verde, Heleconia Suspension treetop bridges and the adventure Borinquen day, were . anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half away, but it was great to see the different parts of the country on the way. We also did a half day fishing trip from Playa del Coco and a two hour jet ski rental from Playa Hermosa. Both were deluxe!! Our final day was having massage therapists and manicurists come to do couple's massages and mani/ pedis right at the villa, a very special treat for all... We found the prices including Mar-a-Villa itself less than other resort areas, but the activities were considerably less than we've paid elsewhere. This incredible villa, however, was beyond any expectation we could have imagined!!! It was impressive grandeur and cozy comfort all in one. The pictures online certainly were enticing and made us anticipate with excitement the event, but the reality made us never want to leave. We will certainly be back!!!

Great house. 15 persons had bedroom and private space. Infinity pool was greater than pics. Maid service fantastic. Everyone wanted to stay another week or more.

This house is magnificent. The pictures do not do it justice. All rooms were great--and the sound proofing was excellent between rooms. The view from the balcony--and from any room--was to die for. You could sit and stare at the ocean and watch it change. The sound system was really nice with individual controls for inside and out. The pool and outside grill/bar was great for hanging out--and the sports bar was nice for a game of pool or two after hours. The location was such that peace and quiet or a walk were possible. The store nearby had everything you would need. Best of all, the people who attended to you every need were outstanding. Made friends with our Driver and the on site Concierge and hope to see them again. They were always there when you needed them--and not there when you didn't! I highly recommend this as a vacation destination in Costa Rica!

The home was spectacular. We felt like royalty living in such luxury. The service we received couldn't have been better. The location, on a hill overlooking the Pacific, was breathtaking. We never got tired seeing that view from the patio. The infinity pool was a nice treat which was enjoyed by all. We all hated to leave!

We were two families, (4 adults and 5 kids). Mar a Villa was simply incredible. Our own little slice of paradise. We always were able to find a spot to get some quiet time if we wanted. Each room had a private balcony. The pool room bar was a great hit with the kids. The pictures didn't do it justice. The staff was super and dealing with Star Villas was easy and a great experience. We booked our transportation through Star Villas and Blair was with us for a week and an absolute great person.
The Villa had everything we needed and more! Book this for your next vacation! -

We had a family of 11 for the week.The house has so much space and much to offer that we never felt it was crowded.All bedrooms had their own balcony (and of course bathrooms) what was really nice to relax and hang out at night.The wieuws are spectacular and we have traveled the world but this house was the best we ever had.Staff was very helpful with reservations and or trips.We loved it so much that the whole family just wanted to stay home for dinner and put some delicious fresh fish on the grill.Looking at the sunset it was just fantastic.My husband and I decided to stay an extra week because it was so relaxing.

From the views to the service to the amazing food, everything was wonderful. The marble and local wood used throughout the home made it comfortable as well as luxurious. I was willing to make concessions being in Central america, but I ended up having all of my needs taken care of beyond my expectations.

Costa Rica is a beautiful place to visit and the perfect compliment to it's beauty is this home, Mar-a-Villa! As I entered the house, I was overwhelmed by the panoramic view of the water and the lush green hills. The interior of the house was beautifully decorated and felt like home to us. The private balconies in each suite allowed us alone time from our larger group. We slept with our patio door open at night to hear the occasional rumble of thunder in the evenings and the early morning calls of the Howler Monkeys! Such a great experience. I highly recommend Mar-a-Villa. We have already booked another stay for 2012!

I was not prepared for how wonderful this vacation in Costa Rica was. This trip and the home, country and atmosphere makes me think of the great romantic writers. They would say "This natural beauty is like a young woman who is unaware that she is mesmerizing. Young fresh and lovely this place is restful and calming beyond belief. " I could not have been happier with this setting. Sitting on the private balcony of my bedroom was such a nice retreat from our large crowd, I was treated to a rainbow of birds singing to me in the morning. Lounging in the pool, as the sun sets I was enamored with the ethereal orange golden sun as it set. The view spreads from the lush green mountains to the clam sea. Every whim was calpabily efficiently carried out by the staff. The real problem with this captivating place is the time disappears and before you know it. It is time to go.

I took my family of 10 adults and 2 babies for ten days
and the people were wonderful. We had a maid,cook,Barten
DER,driver and car and they really went out of Thier way
to ensure our stay was perfect. We all went different ways and they took care of everything ( lots of logistics)...From fishing, zip lining,shopping,sailing, snorkeling,river tour, spa days and just sight seeing
we were pampered at all times. The home was beautiful
and perfect for the group. The home was furnished nicely
and had everything you could want from the aC to the pool and the massive deck area with multiple seating areas. The Hermosa area is great for going to town(Coco)
and is 40 minutes from airport. If your looking to keep the family in one house with the ability to all go together or split up in a beautiful,Freindly country
with great service, food,and attention stay here. -

Eight of us, 4 adults and 4 kids aged 6 to 12, spent a week at this incredible villa in July and could not have been more impressed. The pictures we saw ahead of time were enticing but couldn't fully capture the incredible views from every room or the beauty of this luxurious home. Each night we relaxed with a glass of wine on the deck to watch the sunset while the kids enjoyed the infinity pool well past dark. The home had everything we could have asked for (pool table, games, bar, wi-fi, countless Hdtvs, marble floors, luxurious beds and furniture, separate Hvac system for each bedroom, walk-in closets, etc.) and made for a perfect place to relax after spending the afternoons sight seeing, snorkeling and body surfing on the incredible waves just minutes away at the beach. The house was so comfortable that we could easily have had another family with us and not felt cramped. Our kids still talk about the great time we had in Costa Rica. We can't wait to go back!

Mar-a-Villa is an easy distance from the airport and light years away from the hustle and bustle of life. The villa is luxuriously outfitted and beautifully decorated. The view from the deck is one that takes all your worries away! Sit back and relax or head out for local adventure (zip-line, paddle boarding and snorkeling). Playa Hermosa is small enough to be away from the crowds but big enough to offer a variety of dining options. (Best pizza we've ever had was at Restaurante y Pizzeria Bocelli which is just down the hill from Mar-a-Villa. Or better yet, bring in a local chef - the price can't be beat. That way you'll get to enjoy the fabulous deck and infinity pool at sunset.) Mar-a-Villa is perfect for a Costa Rican getaway.

Words cannot express the degree of elegance and hospitality that our group experienced at this Villa. The Villa was most luxurious, spacious and unbelievably beautiful. If I ever get the opportunity to visit Costa Rica again, I will be sorely disappointed if I am not able to stay here. The hospitality and graciousness of the staff was just icing on the cake. Even on a cruise, we have never been so pampered. It's worth every penny to get the all inclusive amenities. By far, this is the best vacation we have ever experienced and the most extravagant place we have ever stayed. The owners have spared no expense. Cannot wait to stay here again!!

It was the best family trip that we ever had. The house was wonderful and Henry, Blair and Eleazar were incredible. Marisole was great as well and adrianna was always there for us.
The events were planned out well.
I only have a few minor suggestions.
1. the water pressure was very poor in the showers and it was rarely hot
2. the restaurant choices were ok..not sure if that is the norm, but we were looking for authentic Costa Rican food. Henry was able to direct us to some great places.
3. Our New Years eve buffet Bosque Del Mar was terrible..we actually paid for our drinks and then left to eat somewhere else..
