“Paradise...check” My family found paradise ...Playa Hermosa. A very quaint town not overly run with tourist attractions. This condo was amazing. It was clean and comfortable with many fantastic amenities. We grilled out during a big football game here in the states. We swam laps and splashed around in the clean and quiet pool just feet from the condo. We were able to capture beautiful sunsets from the second floor balcony. The property staff also gave us limes and bananas picked on site that morning. A few step from the condo gets you to the ocean where the waves are crashing and the monkeys are playing over head. The on-site managers were friendly, kind, and very helpful suggesting things to do and see. The area was very safe. We all agreed we will return!

“Lovely, private, inspirational home” I stayed here with my husband, teen daughter and 2, 20 something year old kids. The house is about 20 min from the airport, 5 minutes to the grocery store and restaurants and beaches, but still very private. It is everything you would want in a tropical getaway - Clean, cool, open and welcoming. We used the whole house and found it to be very comfortable - the beds were VERY comfortable. We spent the cooler parts of the day on the patios and enjoyed the incredible, unbeatable views to the ocean. In fact, my favorite part of the vacation was spending the early morning sipping delicious Costa Rican coffee on the balcony while listening to the countryside awake. The local manager, Myra, was very helpful, accommodating and available. She was able to secure a cook for us one night so we could have the "typical" dinner - delicious. Please note: the scary looking dirt road UP the hillside led us to the house. It's a very short ascent, but you will need a 4 wheel drive, or at least a larger car to make it up - we got used to it after a couple of days, but we had a good car and got a lot of experience on dirt roads with our travels around the country during the week. This house would be great for a large gathering, multiple families or a party!

About Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica
Hernán Ponce de León discovered Puntarenas in the 16th century, although there were native tribes already in the area.
Coffee has played a central role in the development of the region since it was discovered by the Europeans. In the early 19th century, it became famous for exporting it, as well as bananas.
The traditional dress in the area is beautiful. Women wear long colored skirts (golas) with ruffled blouses with different color trimming. Their hair is braided and decorated with a flower. Men wear a hat with a wide brim and white, or light pants with shirts tucked into a red belt or sash.
While you're there try rondon, a spicy coconut soup. You can also buy refreshing fruit juices (naturales) on the streets. Mango, pineapple and melon juices are among the favorites. Another favorite local dish is gallo pinto—rice and black beans.

What to do in Playa Hermosa
Surfing is the main reason for vacationing in Playa Hermosa. However, there are plenty of other things to do if that's not your thing.
Visit Carara National Park and see the crocodiles in the Tarcoles river. If you don't like large reptiles, there are many brightly colored birds to spot. The area is incredibly rich with wildlife so you may see opossums, two-toed sloths, agoutis, armadillos, pacas, great anteaters, and poison-arrow frogs (if you are lucky). You will certainly see monkeys!
From Jaco, you can take a trip to Tortuga (turtle) island. You’ll see beautiful species of parrot, but be careful of the wild pigs—they can be dangerous.
Take one of the many cruises on offer. Visit the untouched mangroves on an Eco Jungle tour. It's a great way to while away an afternoon.
Visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. This is one of the best examples of sustainable tourism in the world.
