“great location” we have stayed here for the last three years and the group I travel with have stayed here even longer. There is a small pool in the center of the house/villas and you can walk to the beach! It could use a few new pillows, but overall it is clean and they do come in daily to clean up after you. Dave Malbon is a really nice guy and extremely helpful! WE love this spot in Costa Rica!

“I'd stay her over and over again” Condo Tortuga is the perfect location for me. It's situated away from the main strip of Playa Guiones, towards the Gilded Iguana end of town. This means you are an easy walk from either part and you can get away from it all at the condo. Also, it's just 5 minutes to the beach, so perfect for my early morning and sunset surf sessions! The kitchen has everything you need and I found the bed and sofas very comfortable. There are nice little touches all over the place and Gary and Karen have put a lot of effort into making your stay a good one. You have to read their folder on things to do and see. It's the Nosara bible! There is a nice pool and that is looked after well. The condos, pool and grounds is surrounded by a wall and there is someone in the gate house 24/7. This gives that extra feeling of security. I've stayed in a couple of other condos here too. Each time, I've met and socialised with other people staying here too, so it's always been fun. My tip? Buy some meat and cold beers and fire up the grill :)

“Great Nosara experience” nice 2 bed 2 bath villa with large tables inside and on patio. Tile throughout with a full kitchen. there are about a dozen villas in the woods but they are pretty private because of the layout. heavily wooded area off the road. rooms are clean and the villass feel very safe. about 1/2 mile waalk to the beach or short car ride. great mile long beach big waves for surfing and a large sandbar for beginners. Nosara fishing is great and they pick you up right at the villa. this is a thumbs up.

“Great villa and location” We had such a wonderful, relaxing stay at Casa Margarita. The villa is spacious and clean, with a great terraced outside area with beautiful views, and a nice pool for cooling down. Lounging after a day at the beach, looking out at the sunset over the Pacific (with a cocktail in hand) has to be one of life's great experiences! Pete and Maggie were very helpful in terms of advice and tips in advance of our trip out there. We went snorkelling, fishing, diving, went on the zip line tour, and spent lots of time on Samara and Carillo beaches (both quiet and beautiful). The wildlife was also a real highlight - particularly the monkeys and hummingbirds

“Beautiful private retreat, clean and simple with stunning mounta” I've stayed here several times, and each time have had a remarkably peaceful and comfortable experience. This is the real Costa Rica, in a prime location just above the Nosara River. As close to beaches and restaurants as you'd want to be (about 20 min.) yet in such a natural setting, this is where I go to renew myself. (Not sure if the owner mentions it, but it's on a gated private driveway with a carport, and the grounds are beautifully maintained).

About Nosara, Costa Rica
Nosara is well off the beaten track, on the Nicoya peninsula, on the north pacific coast of Costa Rica. It's 100 miles west of the capital, San Jose. There's only one dirt and gravel road to get to it and this has only officially existed since 1979.
Prior to the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century, the Chorotegas inhabited the area for centuries. The Spanish virtually wiped out the tribe, enslaving them and sending them to work in the gold mines of Panama and Peru. However, you can still see evidence of their traditions today—you just need to go looking for it.
You can get virtually whatever you want to eat in Nosara—from traditional Costa Rican food to international cuisines. But it’s always worth sampling the local specialities, such as Gallo Pinto (a traditional breakfast dish) and ceviche (thinly sliced raw fish marinated in citrus).
There's plenty to do here, too—it's a great place to explore, and not very touristy!
What to do in Nosara, Costa Rica
You can surf, paddle-board, snorkel and swim on the beaches in and around Nosara. You can also kayak along the river, or practice yoga in one of the retreats.
For you adventurous types, hike up through the Nosara Biological Reserve. You may see armadillos, deer, howler monkeys or wildcats. The area is full of interesting flora and fauna waiting to be discovered.
If you enjoy horse riding, take a ride along the beach at sunset and admire the view.
For sport fishing enthusiasts, Nosara is a paradise. You may catch sailfish, blue marlin, yellowfin tuna or other large fish.
Visit the capital city, San Juan, and be transported back to colonial times as you stroll around the in the Old City. Take in a couple of museums and get a flavor of the city's past.
One of the most pleasurable pastimes is simply chilling out and watching the spectacular sunset on the beach, while sipping a cocktail. Definitely worth a try!
Top travel tips for Nosara, Costa Rica
All-terrain vehicles are best for getting around Nosara and the neighboring area. The road leading to and from Nosara is a dusty track, so be prepared for a couple of bumps.
Alternatively, you can hire a bicycle by the day or week. It's a great way to get around the town. If you want to head further afield, there are buses that connect Nosara to other towns. You can also walk along the beach to Playa Guiones and back.
