“Great time in Costa Rica, memories to last a lifetime.” Condo was perfectly appointed. Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, plenty of towels. Million dollar views. Air conditioner worked like a charm. Great pool and workout facility. Restaurant served wonderful breakfast. Grocery shopping, restaurants and bars nearby. We would definitely stay here again.

Pacifico - Fabulous Ocean View New 2 Bed 2 Bath

Playas del Coco apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Absolutely perfect!” This has been one of the most beautiful vacation rentals I have had the pleasure of staying in. The photos don't do this place justice. I was blown away by the panoramic ocean views from the balcony and how meticulously the condo and community grounds are maintained. The furnishings are brand new and very high-end, especially for Costa Rica. The king bed is extremely comfortable with quality linens, and I'm sure the queen bed in the spare bedroom is just as comfortable, even though it wasn't used. The condo is very secure and in a gated community that is guarded 24/7 which was a nice reassurance. Pacifico is also within walking distance to everywhere in Coco that you'd need to go. I would not hesitate recommending this accommodation to anyone visiting Costa Rica. This is truly the best place you could stay in Playas del Coco, it doesn't get any better! Thank you Dave for your wonderful hospitality.

The Best Affordable Condo, Beautiful Ocean Views

Playas del Coco apartment

1 bedroom / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 2

“I cannot wait to go back!” My family and I were there for the first time at the suggestion of a friend. It was one of the best decisions I've made for a vacation. The condominium was well kept, clean, and spacious with all the amenities that a vacationer would want. I can't list them all but here are a few: There were two full bathrooms which came in very handy for the four of us - no waiting. The wi-fi Internet was so useful and allowed me to upload all the vacation photographs. The swimming pool was meticulously clean because the staff worked on it every day (my daughters used the pool almost every day!). The washer and dryer were so convenient, just a few steps from our front door. And yes, the view from the rooftop terrace was simply breathtaking. And the low season price could not be beat...I would guess it's 100% cheaper than staying in Hawaii. One more thing, the kitchen was fully stocked with all necessary utensils, plates, pans, pots, etc. and my wife just had a great time cooking. Parking lot is a gravel yard, but I did not mind it at all since there weren't that many people during august. Lastly, the two security guards were there 24/7 and I really appreciated their information on local restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend this condominium to anyone. If you don't mind doing your own laundry and walking a few flight of stairs to reach the condo, this is the place for you. One more thing, Ralph, the manager of my unit was just so easy to deal with and he made me feel very welcome.

“Wonderful, comfortable stay” My brother and I had a wonderful stay. The condo was ideal, the aC a godsend...nice neighbors and location. A ten minute walk to a terrific, more remote beach, Playa Ocotal Tito was a wonderful host/property manager - incredibly helpful with great recommendations. He made my stay relaxing and easy. :) I'd make two minor suggestions - just to have a couple rolls of toilet paper at the house and dishwashing liquid when you arrive. Very minor. Great stay, I'd come back. Thank you for offering your place to stay, and if you or Tito need a reference, please don't hesitate to contact me. All the best, Dave

“relaxing tropical paradise” The owners could not have been easier to work with, providing details about the area, day trip ideas, and easy reservation/ checkin/ checkout with an on-site contact. Owner's photos are accurate and represent the property, no need to add my own. The condo is a fabulous 3 bedroom, 2 bath, with a view of one of the pools. We spent many meals and had morning coffee on the huge terrace listening to birds, and a few evenings in the pools and hot tub. Very relaxing. The resort's pool areas were nice, with comfortable lounge chairs and depending on the time of day, shade or sun if you migrate from one area to another. Condo furnishings were beautiful and in very nice condition. The master bed was extremely comfortable with high end linens. A generous number of bath and pool towels were provided. The condo was well appointed with a full kitchen with new appliances, lots of granite counter top workspace, and extra touches like a coffee grinder and rice maker in case you decide to dine in. Dishes, cloth napkins, basic spices were provided. Washer/dryer in condo. Condo was on the second floor, with 1 flight of stairs. Resort was guard gate controlled access, and area was generally quiet, although there was construction on the nearby building when we were there, which would be a temporary issue. Coco itself is a cute little town with lots of tourist shops and small restaurants. The resort complex is the primary 'new' development in what is otherwise a lesser developed typical Costa Rica beach town. There are 2 or more supermarkets, the one near the resort being more expensive. There are at least 2 fish markets, and a pastry shop across the main road that was quite good. It's more of a party vibe than some of the towns, with a few sports bars, but also options for quiet dining on the beach - kind of full spectrum. I felt safe everywhere I went, but that doesn't mean you should leave valuables in sight if you decide to spend the day at the beach. Highly recommend this condo.

“awesome stay” I was invited to stay down here during the 2nd week of Nov. The condo was very clean and had everything that was advertised. The spare bedroom was roomy and offered what I needed. The property is very convenient to the beach and downtown. The grounds are very clean with security on a daily basis. I would recommend this condo and hope to return one day. Thomas

About Playas del Coco

Are you on the lookout for a bustling, youth-centered vacation with plenty to do? Playas Del Coco has become one of the most popular tourist destinations for those looking to travel to a commercialized, tourist-friendly area.

Book your property rental in Playas Del Coco today with FlipKey.

About Playas Del Coco, Costa Rica

Playas Del Coco – also known as ‘Coco Beach’ – is one of the oldest seaside communities in the area. Recently, it has developed into an area associated with high levels of tourism.

The town is just a small fishing community which is one of the main forms of income. Yet, nowadays, locals are geared up for the large tourist industry where many come to spend long weekends.

If you're not a fan of crowds and would prefer a laid-back and tranquil destination, it must be said that Playas Del Coco may not be the best place for you. Restaurants, nightclubs and bars are dotted everywhere, so expect a bustling atmosphere both in the daytime and in the evening.

Unlike the usual white sands that many prefer when on vacation, Coco has grey sands with blue-grey waters and sits in a horseshoe bay.

What to do in Playas Del Coco

To experience a taste of the nightlife, you must visit some of the local casinos, discos and nightclubs around the destination. Most of which can be found in the center.

If on the other hand, you're looking for suitable daytime activities, Coco Beach has an array of watersports such as scuba diving and snorkeling. During these activities, you'll be sure to spot some tropical fish such as puffer fish, eels, and stingrays. You might even catch a glimpse of dolphins in the ocean.

If you're looking for something a little more extreme, you could join a surfing expedition, with many departing from Coco Bay on a daily basis. You'll head to Witch's Rock where you'll catch some serious waves.

You may also decide to visit Marino Des Baulas, a local national park where visitors can catch a glimpse of sea turtles – a perfect activity if you're a wildlife enthusiast.

Top travel tips for Playas Del Coco

To get around, there are a variety of buses which depart from Coco Bay to other nearby beaches. But bear in mind that these can often be overcrowded with both locals and tourists.

You may also decide to hire a taxi. They can be extremely good value for money, and depending on your location, can vary in price between $2-10. This would be most beneficial for short trips. But those staying for a longer period of time would be better off hiring a 4x4 rental car, so you are able to go off-roading should you choose to.

If you're looking for sun, sea and sand, Playas Del Coco is the ideal destination. Even if you're an adventurer or hoping to escape a bustling destination to experience incredible nightlife, there's also plenty to keep you occupied throughout your stay.

Ultimate laid back luxury - Walking distance to the Beach and Ocean View!
Casa Camaleon

This house was perfect for our group of 10. Four adults and six kids ranging in ages from 4-9. The house is very nice and well appointed. We all enjoyed the pool and outside spaces. The lot is very large and there are plenty of areas for the kids to explore. The views are spectacular and the rear of the house faces West so every evening you have a magnificent sunset while you enjoy dinner on the patio. Melvin, the property caretaker, did a fantastic job. The pool was always clean and the lush vegetation on the property was well taken care of. Melvin went out of his way to help keep the kids entertained too with spotting monkeys and iguanas on the property as well as helping to crack open many of the Almond pods falling from various Almond trees around the property. Maria was wonderful and maintained everything inside the house. She kept the house looking spotless, which is no small task with 6 kids! She also prepared breakfast every morning. Even on the mornings when we had very early departures for excursions Maria was happy to accommodate. Tracy, with Star Villas, helped to make this one of the best family vacations we've ever taken. Her level of customer service was top notch. During the planning stages Tracy was very helpful and on point with all of her suggestions ranging from adventures suited for our group to reccomdations for restaurants. During our stay she visited our villa every morning to introduce us to our guide for that day's adventure or, if we had a free day, she would check-in to see if we needed anything. As an example, on one of our free days she arrived at 9:30 am and suggested the idea of massages. An hour and a half later two massage therapists arrived at the house. For our 1st adventure day we went to the Rincon de la Vieja region at Borinquen. It was an amazing day filled with horseback riding, zip lining, mud baths, hot springs, and swimming. The two youngest kids in our group (4 and 5 yr old) had to ride horse back with one of their parents or a guide. For the zip lining they also had to zip with a guide. Everyone had a blast - this is a must do adventure in Costa Rica. You'll see a ton on wildlife on this adventure and if you're lucky you may even get poopped on (twice) by a rare spider monkey. Our guide assured me this is a sign of good luck... For our 2nd adventure day we went on a river boat tour in the Palo Verde National Park. We saw tons of wildlife - birds, monkeys, crocodiles and this adventure was suitable for all ages. We even had our own private boat, which was a pleasant surprise and a nice Star Villa touch. This allowed us plenty of room to move around to get better viewing angles of all the wildlife. As a comparison, all of the other boats on the river appeared to be completely full. For one of our free days we asked Tracy to suggested a good beach spot. I told her we were looking for something where we might be able to chairs with umbrellas and drink/food service. CR really doesn't have many beaches that offer services like this but she made some calls and was able to get us a cabana at the Mangroove Hotel. This was perfect. We rented a full service cabana next to the pool with the beach only 30 yards away. We even had access to the kids camp which all 6 enjoyed for almost 2 years allowing the parents sometime to relax. The moms enjoyed foot massages in the cabana while the dads enjoyed cocktails poolside. Other services: Driver - We had a personal driver (Juan) during our stay, organized thru Tracy at Star Villas. Juan was awesome! He was very professional, punctual and kept the van in meticulous condition. We had access to Juan for 8 consecutive hours each day and used him for everything from airport pick-up/ drop-off, adventure days, grocery shopping, visits to town for souvenir shopping, meals out, etc. Private Chef - We had a private chef (Aaron) for 3 dinners at the house. Aaron was organized through Tracy at Star Villas. His food was amazing and we were able to collaborate with him on the menu. He also prepared separate, more kid friendly items for our children. His cooking was the best we had during our trip. I highly recommend this service for at least a few dinners. One of the best and most unexpected experiences we had was a firework show shortly after sunset, as we were sitting down to dinner on the patio our first evening. For about 15 minutes we enjoyed a beautiful firework display that looked and sounded like it was coming from our own backyard. Seeing that, followed by our 1st dinner prepared by Chef Aarron was the perfect way to end the day. Adventure Guide - Renier was our guide during our excursions. He speaks English very well and has expert knowledge regarding all things in Costa Rica (history, plants, animals, etc). He was great at keeping the kids engaged and we loved all the monkey and bird calls he's mastered. He is very passionate about his work and his country. He helped our adventure days memorable and educational experiences. Also he's a great photographer and help us capture a ton of great pictures to remember our awesome adventures.see more

Beautifully Furnished Vacation Condo...
A beautiful well appointed condo with everything you need for a great vacation,

Stayed August 2016 in this great unit. We had four adults and lots of room for everyone. It is in a great location - walk to beach or to town. Playas del Coco is a wonderful place to visit. We heard the Howler monkeys in the morning and wTched then in the trees in the afternoon. This is a very safe area and the complex has full time security that is very nice. We can't wait to go back and stay here again❤️see more

Pura Vida!

I absolutely loved this place. Its was such a convenient location and perfect for me. Restaurants and business center on the corners with in 1, 2 minute walking distance, beach was less than 5 and the main strip about 7. The neighbors are all super nice. I will miss everything about my trip and can't wait to return in the future. see more
Ocotal Beachfront Villa
Great location! Great home!

We stayed for four nights at the end of a three week trip to Costa Rica. We were able to fish, snorkel and sunbathe at this location. I got stung by jellyfish as did others while snorkeling, but it was still enjoyable! We chose this spot for proximity to the airport for an early departure. The unit was well equipped, clean and everything was in good working order. There is hot water, air conditioning, wifi and a washer and dryer, this things are not always available depending on where you stay in Costa Rica. There is a good grocery store close by with a nice variety of merchandise and good prices. We saw monkeys, a variety of birds and lizards around the property and near the beach. There is a good restaurant within walking distance Father Roosters. We ate dinner there twice, good food, drinks, service and beachfront outdoor dining. We made a day trip to Playa Dantita. It was a good beach for swimming, snorkeling and fishing. Playa del Coco is close by with typical souvenir shops, bars, restaurants and hotels. We enjoyed the quieter location. Property has 24 hour security, but we felt safe in all our travels within Costa Rica. We would definitely stay again if we travel to the same area in Costa Rica.see more

wonderful location and very quiet

Perfect location. 2 blocks to the beach on paved road. Fun the see the Howler monkeys in the trees early in the am on the way to beach. 8 units so it was very nice and quite. Having a BBQ on site was a real treat. Great WIFI even in the room. Furnishings were modern and up to date. good storage in the room. Kitchen was well equipped with plenty of dishes, utensils and pots and pans. Generous size bathroom. Having screens and security bars was great. You could leave everything open at night, no need to turn AC on. Washer and Dryer to share among tenants, never a problem. Nice clean pool and patio furniture. The location was perfect being close to the beach and less than a mile to town. There are a couple restaurants within a block of apartment, all being very good. There is also a coffee shop and a mini grocery store that carries most everything. It will get you thru til you go to town. Taxi $2 to townsee more
