Nestled on a hill overlooking San Miguel, your group will enjoy unrivaled privacy, tranquility & barefoot luxury in paradise at this safe & secure retreat! Our cabinas provide the creature comforts of home while the open-air Rancho provides a stunning setting to eat, drink & be merry. Surrounded by wildlife and nature, you are truly immersed in what Costa Rica was like before the world arrived. Be prepared to forget what day of the week it is!
A grownup playground in paradise, this property is perfect for small groups and families up to 10, however, throughout Covid, we will be open for groups up to 6. Nestled on 15 acres of hillside property with no public roads to reach us and no signs to point the way, our 2 private cabinas all have stunning 180' ocean/beach views, AC, hot water, and tropical outdoor showers.
Guest cabinas are a short distance (30 meters) from the over-sized open-air “Rancho”, our outdoor living area that gives you the tropical “Glamping" experience! Overlooking a large vanishing edge pool it has a private honor bar (we pre-stock local beers, micro-brews, various sodas, bottled cocktails if you like), a professional billiards table, dining & lounge area. Here you can enjoy long, lazy days lounging - taking in the views, spying on the wildlife, and enjoying the pool that makes you feel like you are floating over the Pacific.
A small but ample kitchen and a full sized professional Weber grill make preparing meals a breeze. You can buy fresh veggies on the beach at LocosCocos when the trucks come thru from the farmers market and the local grocery stores have all the basics to prepare all types of snacks and meals. Pre-shopping services are available and a map of major markets, liquor outlets and organic markets will be provided prior to your arrival in the country.
Decks, daybeds and hammocks abound for impromptu naps as you snooze with the sound of the surf crashing below on San Miguel. At night, let them be the seats to your own personal planetarium for unforgettable star gazing!

Guests are welcome to join us for lunches and sunset dinners at our beach "snack shack", LocosCocos which is listed in Lonely Planet as the #1 Beach Bar in Costa Rica! Henner will gladly set you a table on the edge of the surf so you can dine under the canopy of the stars! As we plan and confirm your stay, we can assist with meals as little or as much as you like or you can use the simple kitchen and grill. Guests can run a tab throughout their stay at LocosCocos and many often order family style meals daily to enjoy in the privacy of the rancho!
A truly personalized experience filled with old fashioned fun, fine local cuisine and culture await you at Cristal Azul. We promise you comfort and barefoot uxury in a place that many consider to one of the last untouched hidden gems of Costa Rica. It is our goal that you leave wishing you could stay a little longer!

House rules
4WD is mandatory while in our area and to reach the property on top of the hill, the road up is quite an adventure but the privacy and views you enjoy are unrivaled!
Smoking is allowed however, not in the cabinas or dining area. We just ask that you step on to one of the decks so that the smoke is not in the common areas.
