3 bdrm, 2 bath. 1700 sq ft home adjacent to national forest in quietest part of Wrightwood. About 1 minute drive to the shops and restaurants in the village. Nice deck and patio. Very homey and comfortable. Excellant for snow play. Backyard has sled run. If you have a larger party, consider also renting the All Pine Inn and/or Snow Bungalow. My nephew wanted to go snowboarding for his 9th birthday, so my brother being the great planner he is booked a hotel for an extremely high price. I checked online and found the Getaway Chalet the day before the trip and was able to book the Chalet for 13 people! Barbara was extremely helpful and we were boked in 15 minutes. The chalet was incredible! It was spacious, cozy, and extremely accomodating. It was located right down the street from Mountain High, and right up the street from the town in case we needed anything. We had an outstanding time and will definitely come again!

I stayed for 2 nights midweek with my family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) and another family (dad and 2 kids) for 7 people total. Barbara (the manager) was quick to answer any questions I had and we had pleasant and helpful interactions. The home itself is perfect for families. One room with two twin beds has a nice selection of children's toys and books. The Master bedroom and the other 2 are on on separate levels, giving plenty of privacy for separate families. The carpeting is older and stained, but with kids, that just meant I did not stress about spills. The DVD player worked well. We did not use the fireplace. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, not as well as at home, but good enough. We did try using the extra cot, to put another child in the kids room, but the cot was not adequate even for a 6 year old, so she slept on the floor in her sleeping bag. We could have tried one of the other pull outs, but she wanted to be in the same room as the other girls. We were very lucky and arrived just as snow was beginning to fall. The next morning there was fresh snow at Mountain High and the back yard of the house had nice sledding runs for the kids. Barbara warned us when we arrived that the driveway is dangerous after a snow, so we went to the hardware store to buy some chains and parked at the bottom of the driveway. Without her warning I'm pretty sure we would not have made it out of the driveway safely. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is that we had to pay extra for linens (you are given an option to bring your own or pay for linen service), we had to take our trash with us (no trash service at the house) and we spent a fair amount of time on the morning we left cleaning the place so as to not be charged an extra cleaning fee. For the price of the place, I would have expected those things to be included and did not know these details until after booking. Aside from that, we had a pretty magical family vacation that I will look back on very fondly.

We have been coming here for years and have always enjoyed our stay. The cabin is always clean and warm when we arrive. It's really close to town and Mt. High. The owner is great. I don't think there is a better place to stay in Wrightwood. We'll be back!
