Description from owner

Description

The BYRE, located at 19A Kenmore Street, offers quiet, comfortable and character-full accommodation minutes away from the centre of the historical town of Aberfeldy. The former cow byre at 19A has been converted into a two story semi-detached house with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs and open plan kitchen, dining area and sitting room downstairs. There is also a small front porch. The accommodation comprises one double room and one twin bedded room. There is also a newly refurbished, good-sized, bathroom with a walk-in electric shower. All linen and towels are supplied. The property has electric heating throughout, including an electric stove as a focal point in the sitting room. Guests can enjoy the sun-trap patio in front of the house or can make full use of the large garden to the rear of the property. There is a private, gated, car park attached to the house which will accommodate one car for 19A, in a designated parking bay. There is also free parking on Kenmore Street. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a washing machine. High speed fibre optic Wifi is available throughout the property and TV, DVD and video players are supplied. Books, games, videos and DVDs are available for guests to enjoy. This is a traditional stone built property which will comfortably accommodate two adults and two children, or four adults. For larger parties, the adjoining property , Bondhu at 19 Kenmore Street, which sleeps four (under different ownership) may also be available.

The property benefits from its proximity to all the amenities offered in Aberfeldy itself – numerous restaurants, the Watermill bookshop and café, plenty of interesting and unusual shops, and the recently refurbished Birks cinema. The Breadalbane Community Centre is to the rear of the property and provides a swimming pool, sauna and other sports and leisure opportunities. The Moness Country Club also has a swimming pool and leisure activities. All types of water sports are available in Aberfeldy and nearby Kenmore, on Loch Tay. There are many beautiful walks within or near Aberfeldy such as the famous Birks of Aberfeldy, Weam forest walk and public walkways along the river Tay. There are very many longer walks slightly further afield to suit all levels of ability. Aberfeldy also offers a golf course, tennis courts, bowling green and putting green and, of course, provides a central location for visiting all the numerous sights and attractions that Perthshire has to offer.

“perfect dog friendly location”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2018

Aberfeldy is a perfectly central location for visiting the highland lakes and mountains and The Byre had everything we could need. Even our dog had his own lovely garden and I had a piano to play! Vivien had left us information leaflets about whisky tasting and we visited the distillery at Oban which was brilliant. Our dog was swimming in a lake or river every day as there are so many close by. We had a lovely meal at the Kenmore Hotel which is only a few miles away and my partner hired a kilt for the evening from The kilt shop in Perth. We'll be back!

Response from the owner I’m so glad that you all enjoyed your stay and that your partner managed to hire a kilt. You will need to come back - there are many more distilleries to visit! You are welcome back any time.
