“A lovely cottage in a beautiful location”
We've just returned from our week long stay at this fantastic cottage nestled away in the village of Wootton. The cottage is surrounded with great countryside views and it was so peaceful and qui… More

“The Groom's Cottage”
Our family had a wonderful stay in The Groom's Cottage. Ann's house was spotlessly clean and we really appreciated the treats, chocolate brownies and wine, which Ann had left out for us in the cottage. We would definitely recommend staying here.

“Fabulous cosy home from home”
This was a gorgeous, well equipped and very comfortable rental stay. Ann was a great hostess, leaving thoughtful welcome touches in the fabulously stocked kitchen. The cottage was warm throughout our rainy and chilly stay, with an open fire to play games and chat with the whole extended family. We loved the very stylish decoration throughout and the comfortable beds with cosy duvets. The house had beautiful views and sheep as neighbours, a travel cot was provided and the family bathroom and large spaces were fabulous at accommodating 7 of us of various ages. We look forward to revisiting when we can take advantage of the local walks in nicer weather and recommend a stay to anyone looking for a comfortable and spotlessly clean stay.

“wish we'd had more time here!”
We were fortunate to find this place at short notice when our airbnb let us down. We were two families down together to visit Alton Towers, and honestly just looking for a place to crash. What a place! The photos really don't do justice to how spacious and pleasant the house is. The beds are comfortable and the showers are hot. The living room in particular is a lovely place to spend an evening (with the log burner set up on arrival) and the views in the morning were idyllic. It's not perfect, nothing is, but it is SO much nicer than we expected that if we'd known, we'd have booked an extra night just to enjoy it for longer.

“The Grooms Quarters”
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. The holiday cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable. A stunning setting to enjoy a completely relaxing and quiet break from our busy city lives.

“Fabulous Place”
The Grooms Quarters is a fabulous holiday home with the most amazing large queen size beds in two of the 3 bedrooms. Ann provides lovely extras such as wine and cake which was very much appreciated on arrival. Will definitely be back next year.

“Lovely weekend getaway!”
Very accommodating hosts with complimentary brownies and wine on arrival. 8 of us on the trip and we all enjoyed our visit. The house is well kept with beautiful surrounding scenery.

“A beautiful home in fantastic surroundings”
We arrived on the Friday afternoon to a delightful welcome basket which included the most amazing home made brownies. The cottage is clean, well decorated and boasts terrific views of the countryside. It is out of the way with the nearest shop around a 20 minute drive, but this means that the surrounding area is so tranquil with the only sounds the “baaa” from the sheep! The owner lives right next door so is on hand should you need her, they’re very welcoming and accommodating. I would highly recommend and definitely stay here again. The beds are comfy, the bathrooms are modern and well maintained. The kitchen is very traditional with a farmhouse style table and Aga. The living room has a traditional wood fire which makes it very cosy on an evening. There’s lots of games to play too, such as trivial pursuit. There’s a nice Outdoor furniture set overlooking the beautiful garden too. WiFi is provided which was welcomed as all of us struggled with our phone connection/signal regardless of our network. There’s lots of lovely walks around the area. My children fell in love with a local pig, which they named Edna

“Wonderful!”
The pictures don't do the place justice. It was a gorgeous, large, fully equipped property in beautiful surroundings. Whilst Ann and her family live next door and were on hand, we didn't see them throughout our 2 night stay. We would love to come back.

“Lovely accommodation”
Had a lovely Christmas at the grooms quarters, very spacious rooms , beautiful countryside and views, a 20 min drive to the market town of Ashbourne, pubs, cafes, shops. The only negative is that the range oven is not working and the single oven is not adequate for a party of 6 ,I believe the owner is sorting this out for Future guests .

Response from the owner We are so pleased you had a lovely Christmas in the Groom's Quarters. So sorry you had a problem with the electric oven - when checked, the side shelf support, had been assembled the wrong way up - we have spoken to our cleaner. Do hope to see you again. Kind regards. Ann
