Description
The Barn provides spacious first floor self catering accommodation in an impressive and artistic conversion of one of the "oldest buildings" in the Derbyshire Peak District Village of Youlgrave. The entrance leads to a large comfortable open plan lounge with impressive maple wood flooring, throughout . Home comforts include TV, DVD, and stereo/radio CD player, High speed broadband and WiFi. The fully fitted kitchen area includes an induction hob and electric fan oven, a fridge, a washing machine, a microwave and a food storage section. Also provided, is a kettle, a toaster, together with all utensils and crockery that is needed to make your stay "home from home".
Off the internal lobby area there is a spacious double bedroom with velux windows allowing you to fall asleep gazing at the stars should you wish. The charming accommodation has a separate bathroom (with shower). Full central heating, towels and bed linen are provided.
The balcony is a perfect sun trap, furnished with a table for two for relaxing with a refreshing cup of tea or enjoying a glass of your favourite wine.
The Barn at The Old Bakery is in the centre of the beautiful Peak District village of Youlgrave. Youlgrave in the White Peak is ideally placed for walking the Limestone Way, and the White Peak Way which pass through the village. Youlgrave is set between the picturesque rivers Lathkill and Bradford in the Derbyshire Dales. It is a fabulous location for visiting many attractions as well as walking, cycling and relaxing in the many tea shops. The village has three thriving pubs all offering Real Ale and a good selection of evening meals.
Youlgrave is ideally situated for Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall [NT]. Extensive retail therapy is available in Bakewell, Ashbourne, Buxton, the new Peak Village Outlets or Masson Village in Matlock Bath. Lathkill Dale skirts the village to the north while, to the south, Bradford Dale meanders. Both are excellent starts for walkers wishing to explore the White Peak.
The Peak District has a wide variety of options for cycling routes and fly fishing.
The cycling routes of Monsall Trail and Tissington Trail are both nearby, and cycles can be hired.
The Buxton Opera House has many varied activites throughout the year.

The village, as you found offers 3 good pubs; all serving home cooked food and 3 shops; which provide all that would be required to complete your stay, without having to use your car, once you had arrived in the village. We are fortunate, in the village to have 3 pubs, 2 shops and a bakery. These enable our guests to be totally self sufficient without, if they so choose, moving their car. There are numerous walks from the door, we have a booklet suggesting 10 of these. Bakewell, with its Monday Market and great individual shops is 6 minutes drive away from The Barn. If you don't fancy using the car, there is an hourly Bus service, from the village to Bakewell.. We hope to see you again.
