Description from owner
Description
Old Farm Cottage is a superb and spacious cottage situated in a picturesque, tranquil location, close to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and the beautiful historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. The owners' personal holiday home, it is ideal for exploring the spectacular Northumberland Heritage Coast, Cheviot Hills, and the Scottish Borders nearby, offering some fantastic scenery and quaint towns.
Old Farm Cottage is situated approximately 5 miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed in a peaceful location with private parking. It is a perfect place to take a break, away from all the hubbub of everyday life, with miles of beautiful beaches within minutes' walk, yet with the shops and amenities of Berwick in easy reach. The garden is enclosed and provides a safe place to relax and enjoy the sea air, and there is a prestigious links golf course within easy walking distance.
The cottage is very spacious and beautifully decorated to a high standard; gas central heating ensures it is cosy all year round. The lounge/dining room boasts a fabulous feature inglenook fireplace, with a wood-burning stove and high quality comfortable sofas on which to relax and unwind. There is a ground-floor bedroom with twin beds and en-suite facilities, whilst the first floor single and double bedrooms, each accessed by their own staircases have window seats from which to enjoy the views down the Northumbrian coastline.
Ground floor:
Relax in our cosy, beamed sitting/dining room in front of the inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove. The widescreen television with freeview digibox, DVD player and video recorder along with a selection of books, DVDs and games are provided for your entertainment, with lots of tourist information to plan days out. The newly fitted kitchen is fully fitted and well-equipped with washer, electric cooker, microwave and fridge-freezer. We love cooking, so there is everything you could wish for, from a smoothie maker to a health grill and a range of cook books to provide inspiration. The spacious ground floor master bedroom has a king size bed with comfortable pocket sprung mattresses and ample storage; the en-suite shower room has an electric shower, while the family bathroom has a bath and shower.
First Floor:
Both first floor bedrooms (a double and a single) are accessed via their own staircases and have recessed window seats from which you can enjoy the views of Holy Island and the Northumberland coast. Both staircases are open with no outer handrails and may not be suitable for small children therefore we recommend you check prior to booking if you are unsure. They each have attractive sloped ceilings with original beams, are furnished with pine furniture and have pine bed-frames with high quality mattresses to ensure a relaxing night's sleep.
Outdoors:
There is an enclosed garden, with patio furniture, at the front of the cottage to sit and relax. There is parking space for two cars and additional parking in front of the cottage.
