Description

Wagtail Cottage is a cosy farm holiday cottage surrounded by fields. It is the perfect base for exploring Northumberland or maybe all you want to do is just simply relax by the fire and get away from it all. Wagtail is modern, cosy and comfortable. There is private parking for three cars and a large garage if you wish to store bikes or a trailer.

The cottage has a good sized sitting room with a gorgeous log burner. The sofas are large and super comfortable. The dining area easily sits six guests.

The kitchen looks out to the garden and has a large fridge/freezer, useful for larger parties. All our crockery and cutlery is of a high standard.

There are three bedrooms, all are well furnished with John Lewis bedding and fluffy towels. The cottage boasts two bathrooms, one being an ensuite shower room.

If you are a family travelling with little children we can provide an infant pack consisting of a travel cot, high chair and changing mat. We are fully aware of the amount of "stuff" you need to bring and so will assist in any way we can.

For guests with pets, there is no charge to bring your pet on hoiiday with you. Cheswick Sands is only 15 minutes away by car and offers wonderful walks along our stunning Northumberland coastline. You can enjoy our farm walks or simply gain inspiration from the guide books we have in the cottage.

Getting around

Whereas a car is highly recommended around North Northumberland, we realise this is not always the desirable option. Berwick Railway Station is 6 miles from Thornton. A taxi is easily found here and the price is usually £10 to Thornton. Perrymans and Glen Valley Tours run a twice daily bus service to Berwick and Wooler from our local bus stop, Shoresdean. Please note that for electric car charging there will be an additional £5 per night fee.

Interaction with guest

Booking confirmation will be sent once the holiday request has been received. Directions and access instructions will be forwarded six weeks before your holiday start date. If you have any special requirements before your holiday we are more than happy to help. We can receive an online grocery delivery the morning of your holiday start date, for example. On arrival Laura will welcome you to Wagtail Cottage. She will give you a quick tour of the cottage and answer any questions you may have. We make sure our cottages are warm and cosy for your arrival so the heating and hot water will be switched on. During your stay we are always here to help. Guests are more than welcome to meet our hens, miniature donkeys or the herdwick sheep.
