Villa Paraiso: Labor Day Week Special — Save $2000

Dominical villa

5 bedrooms / 8 bathrooms / sleeps 10

“Wow - More than I could have imagined” This was the best family vacation we have ever had. While I was being pampered with Spa Services at the house (a facial and body scrub with homemade organic products), the kids were riding horseback and my husband was sitting by the pool. We loved it.

“Our Stay at Lattice House was magical, the view breathtaking, th” Lattice House is a dream home in a beautiful setting with a perfect view. Waking each morning to drink delicious Costa Rican coffee on the side deck with my binoculars and bird book, visited by Toucans, kites, woodpeckers, and more, is an experience I will cherish. The delicious food, cooked by alexandra and Farina was among the best we have ever enjoyed, and ana's graciousness and attentiveness to our every need made the week unforgettable. Thank you to all for a wonderful family vacation.

“Room with a View” This place offers a spectacular view of the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. It is perfect for short stays (Kate & I spent 4 nights). Don't try to use the washer/dryer without the handbook or some command of Spanish, but do take part in 'Taco Tuesday' at the San Clemente Bar & Grill in Dominical Village. Jane & Ryan have a treasure in their caretaker, Edwin. While we don't often return to places we visit (after all, there are so many places to see) we would make an exception for this 'laid back' paradise... and 'Taco Tuesday'. Cheers, steve o

“It's about the spectacular view” This was our first trip to Costa Rica and although I did lots of research prior to our trip, I wasn't totally sure what to expect. We arrived in the dark (and it gets dark at 5:30PM) so we couldn't appreciate the perfect setting of Flying Toucans until the next morning. My favorite part of our experience was the privilege of rising at first light and enjoying the sunrise every day (at 5:30 AM)on the balcony, appreciating the glorious colors of the sky as the tides came in and watching the tropical creatures as they came in to visit. Actually, the view is so spectacular at any time of the day with a constant show of wildlife, you will find it very difficult to leave when you have activities planned. This was the rainy season which I didn't fully understand but it was perfect for us -- on most days we didn't see rain until later in the afternoon or evening and when it rained, we quite enjoyed the experience of the tropical downpour. Flying Toucans was perfect for the two couples on our trip and we loved that the living room was actually outside. Even the kitchen shutters opened to take in that gorgeous view of the infinity pool and the Pacific . Clearly the owner’s thought of every detail in design and location, the house manager came to meet us on our arrival in the dark and was a font of information about the area during our stay since he has been a resident for many years; he goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect yet he knows exactly the right balance between being available and giving you your privacy . We took a side trip to Manuel Antonio one day which we thoroughly enjoyed (the benefit of traveling to Costa Rica in the rainy season, is the crowds are much smaller). When we returned to Flying Toucans that evening after walking on every available trail, climbing every step and seeing lots of wildlife, the grounds person surprised us all with a Pipa Fria which I think was the most refreshing beverage I have ever tasted! Having a cell phone for local phone calls was a nice feature and since we turned our USA phones off except for Wifi, it was something we found very useful -- thank you! All in all, Flying Toucans made our first visit to Costa Rica, one we will never forget and we highly recommend this property. It really was paradise!

CASA DE CINEMA - overlooking Pacific Ocean

Dominical house

“Everything you expect” My wife and I recently stayed at Casa de Cinema for 10 nights. It was awesome!! We chose the rainy season to avoid the tourists and were not disappointed. If you're looking for the nightlife and normal touristy locations that you can walk to, then this is not the place for you. However, if it's secluded nature with modern convenience you're after, then this is exactly what you're looking for! About the house: It's a great space with a nice open living/dining area that opens on to a huge porch overlooking the pool. We spent most of our time on the porch enjoying the cool nights and listening to nature. Two separate bedrooms each with their own bath was nice. With just the two of us, we used one as a dressing room and we each had our own bathroom. The power drops out for a second or two maybe twice a day, but that's the nature of Costa Rican living. It really didn't get in the way of anything. The pool has plants surrounding it for privacy and blocks the view of the ocean, but you can just walk up the stairs to the cinema (huge covered patio) and have your morning coffee with a view. About the area: The house is a few (6) kilometers from Dominical up a mountain road. The road is not paved, but gets graded twice a year so it's easy to drive. We drove it in both dry conditions and heavy rain and had no problems. There are lots of howler monkeys in the area that move around daily. They hung out in the trees about 150ft from the house on several mornings! Awesome!! Also, there's a great waterfall and swimming hole only 30 feet from the road up. Great hidden spot! About the hosts: Toby and his wife Kim were great! They live in a house up the hill and were extremely nice and accommodating to anything we needed. The microwave went out and 3 hours after we notified them, it was replaced. Toby's a musician and has a little recording studio at the cinema. Kim is an artist and has her studio up the hill from their house. Summary: This is a fantastic place to stay!!

“An absolute incredible and beautiful oasis!” Villa Los aires was such a wonderful experience! The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very comfortable, and I absolutely enjoyed the hikes on the grounds to the waterfalls. Wow!

“Highly Reccomend!!!” My cousin and I stayed for just over three weeks at Dave and Deb's place this past summer. The studio/accommodations are absolutely beautiful and you are provided with everything you need. The view from the balcony is stunning and the beach and the waterfall (which was my favorite place by the way!) are easily within walking distance. This was one of the best vacations I've ever been on. Dave and Deb are very hospitable and make you feel right at home. So much so that I feel like we walked away with lifelong friends. Dominical is a lovely little town, the locals are friendly and hospitable and there is great surfing. There are also some fun running trails all over the jungle or you can go on a breathtaking beach run. :) We were very happy and satisfied with our stay and would recommend this to any of our friends or family in a heartbeat.

“Best of Both Worlds...Mountain and Beach” Bob and Bea were wonderful hosts starting with showing us the way at 9:30 at night and then giving us 2 bags of groceries because we didn't stop on our way. 4x4 rental is no joke, but we enjoyed the off roading adventure. Pool and house were wonderful and spacious...I swam laps every day and our son was in starting at 6am. Two of the days we didn't leave the house at all because the views and poolside chairs will draw you in. One night we turned all the lights off in the house and laid out in the lawn chairs and looked at the stars. Download a star chart app...so beautiful with no light pollution. Take all the tours Bob recommends and eat at The Dome in Uvita. Bea's dogs and critters kept us company. I would highly recommend this house and Dominical. This was our first trip and we will be back!

Canto del Mar Villa/Pool - Breathtaking Ocean View

Dominical villa

“Truly Phenomenal and Unparalleled Beauty !!!” Cecile and I arrived very late in the night and it was great to have outstanding directions from Dave and Deb on how to get from San Jose to Dominical...they really do want you to have an excellent time and not to worry about anything but what to do next and where to eat. Heading back from the beach or rainforest hike it is just heaven to take a dip in the pool and sit out on the patio and just watch the waves roll in. It is amazing that if you look out the front door you can see up to the mountains and see the clouds roll in when it is about to rain and out the back you can see the beach...both a mountain and beach view. Make sure that when you hear a bark at the front door that you let in a wonderful female copper-colored dog which we named "Penny". She comes in and wants a cool drink of water, hangs out a bit, and then goes right back out the door...very adorable...she did not like my cooking but she may like yours. Seriously folks, if you are looking for an excellent value for the money that is centrally located where you can go 40 mins one way and be in Manual antonio, Jaco, or Quepos...or spend 1 hour beach hopping all the way down to Golfito, you need to stay here. We had such a wonderful time getting away from all the kids and work and reconnecting as a couple...recharged our batteries that we are coming back with some of our family members in December for Christmas in Costa Rica at Costa del Mar !!!

“Originally came to Paradise Breezes in 2012, returned in 2013 an” This was a family vacation and we had an excellent time. In 2012 my wife and I went and we raved about what a good time we had. In 2013 my family wanted to go and they too were not disappointed. The property is immaculately maintained and the staff is wonderful. Emanuel- the concierge made sure all of our needs were met and more. We had Chef Wilberth cook for us everyday and I highly recommend at least having him make at least one meal. We mostly relaxed, but we did take a tour to Manuel antonio National Park. I do not remember our guide's name but he was amazing! He was able to spot insects and animals in seemingly nondescript lush vegetation. Lastly, we had massages from and they were so relaxing. Paradise Breezes is a great property. I have stayed two of the Villas (Cristal & Buena Vista) and both were fantastic. My only complaint is the internet speed is very slow, which is not a huge deal because we came to relax.

“A Little Piece of Heaven on Earth!!” We could not have been more happy with this Villa! The views were spectacular and we felt very much at home! The private pool was absolutely awesome and we spent many afternoons just relaxing! Storm and Amy were exceptional hosts' and we were welcomed with a lovely basket of wine, coffee and fruit, a very nice touch! Amy personally greeted us shortly after our arrival and was available if we needed anything. Amy and Storm arranged all of our excursions and they were fabulous! I highly recommend all of the excursions and restaurants they suggest. They left a very detailed and helpful list of things to do, places to go and directions to local grocery stores, etc! I would HGHLY recommend this Villa and Storm and Amy to my nearest and dearest and we hope to be back next year! PURA VIDA!!!

Casa Ramon

Dominical villa

“Beautiful vistas and exceptional accommodations” Casa Ramon is simply the finest villa we have ever rented. Alberto, the manager, was extremely professional and very willing to assist 24-7. The bedrooms were spacious and nicely furnished with very comfortable bedding. Our family of ten had absolutely no complaints. The views of the mountains and the Pacific from the overlook and outdoor patio will be remembered for years to come. The white face monkeys and Toucans kept us entertained. We also had some wonderful meals prepared by the chef and we have requested some of the recipes.

Casa Bonita-Walk to beach/Pool/Jungle/Concierge

Dominical villa

4 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 12

“Private, comfortable home with relaxing views and great pool!” Casa Bonita is an amazing home away from home! The pictures truly don't do it justice. The house is very spacious and comfortable, the grounds are beautiful, and the pool is huge! We had three generations enjoying Casa Bonita, and it was fun and relaxing for all. Walking distance to a beautiful wide beach with great surf, and a view of the Pacific that I could stare at forever. The location was perfect for us: away from the tourists, but very close to great food...we ate in a different restaurant every night, and we're still talking about how delicious the food was. Casa Bonita is an easy drive to Manuel antonio National Park (a must see!), and an easy drive the opposite direction to the best zip-line tour I can imagine (Osa Canopy tour). We felt close to everything, without being in the center of it all...great privacy, and our concierge Romulo was outstanding! He's very attentive, and has excellent advice on everything you'll want to know. His advice really made our zip-line tour and Manuel antonio NP adventures the best they could be. We also enjoyed the wildlife at Casa Bonita: iguanas and toucans abound! You are in the jungle here, so there are some insects, but nothing bothersome in the house. The a/C in the bedrooms was very comfortable at night, but there's usually a nice ocean breeze as well. If you want to enjoy the real Costa Rica, and have an exceptionally wonderful and comfortable home base, Casa Bonita is the place to be.

About Dominical

Once known only to surfers, the sleepy fishing village of Dominical in Costa Rica is on the verge of becoming a top retirement destination for North Americans.

Whether you come to surf or look for a place to live out your golden years, FlipKey has a rental property to suit all your needs.

About Dominical

Found on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, roughly 30 miles south of Quepos, Dominical has long been famous within the surfing community for its year-round waves.

Visitors to Dominical usually arrive at San Jose Airport where they either rent a car or take a bus to San Isidro. Traveling through the clouds over mountains or following a river in the valleys the entire journey takes around four hours, longer if traveling by bus. Up until recently, the entire area contained no paved roads. But, with luxury villas now popping up all along the mountainside, tarmac has been making more of an appearance.

Surfing, however, remains the area's main draw and has the biggest effect on the local scene. Don’t expect to find much to do other than surfing, but there are several restaurants and bars to hang out in at night.

What to do in Dominical

The real magic of this part of Costa Rica lies outside the town in the marine rich Pacific Ocean waters. Here, you will find the best place on the planet to catch a sailfish.

On the hillside above the beach, you will find lush rainforest with protected nature reserves. Zip-lining through the trees, horseback riding and hiking to see spectacular waterfalls have to be on a visitor's agenda. The same goes for a trip to Parque Reptilandia where you can get up close with snakes, frogs, crocodiles and even a Komodo Dragon.

Also, not far away is the Marino Ballena National Park, one of the only places on earth where whales from both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere meet on their annual migration.

The whales can be seen from shore or up close in a boat tour for nine months of the year. While the humpback is the main act, six other species of whales can be seen as well.

Top travel tips for Dominical, Costa Rica

It is no wonder that Costa Rica is so green with the area around Dominical receiving 14.5 inches of rain in September alone. If you want to avoid the rain, visit during the winter from December through until April.

With Dominical only having one ATM that is often out of order—and pretty much nowhere that accepts credit cards—you need to bring cash in small denominations.

Pick up a souvenir of your trip to Dominical from one of the beachfront vendors who set up stalls between the palm trees on the beach. Then, all that’s left to do is relax with a beer as the sun sinks into the Pacific.

Costa Rica is a world leader in ecotourism as is evident in and around Dominical. Whether it is a surfing adventure, big game fishing or a nature retreat you are looking for, FlipKey has a great range of rental properties to suit all needs and budgets. Start browsing and find the perfect one for you, today!

Beautiful rain forest villa near Dominical
Amazing Views!

Our group, 3 couples in our 50’s & 60’s, stayed in this villa in September. Lynne, the owner, was so easy to work with and always responded promptly to our emails and answered all our endless questions. We booked and paid online, and all was handled effortlessly and efficiently. We arrived over an hour late (mudslide on the road between San Jose and San Isidro) and way after dark but Jose was still patiently waiting for us exactly where we were told he would be. We did call to let him know we were running late because of the slide ad he was very understanding and told us to take our time. The drive up to the house is very steep but the road is good (it had rained like crazy before we got there but no problems) - you will still want to have a 4WD vehicle. There was one place that was kind of washed out and it appeared that a tree had just been cleared from the road but that was the only issue. The villa is beautiful, very private and secluded, but the best part was the outdoor space, pool, and the view. If we were at the house, we were outside! It has has 3 large bedrooms, 2 downstairs, with the master upstairs, and each has its own bath. Kitchen, living, and dining room are all downstairs and we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had eggs, bread, coffee, juice, and milk in the refrigerator. Very nice touch since we arrived so late! Some of the windows just had screens (no glass) so you could fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle (or rain, since we were there during “green” season) at night or the birds waking you up in the morning and I loved that. We saw toucans, aracari’s, and even a sloth, but, sadly, no monkeys. We went on a couple of tours while we were there – Bahia Adventures Whale/Dolphin watching tour and El Santuario Canopy Adventure for zip lining. Loved both of them and wouldn’t hesitate to refer them to anyone. Guys at both places were amazing and we all had a great time. As much fun as we had getting out and seeing the sites, it was still really nice to come home to our beautiful villa. Amazing views, comfortable, and an owner that was accessible and very easy to work with. I highly recommend it!see more
Wow... Don't miss this Luxury Oceanfront Villa!!!
Holy View!

We just returned from vacation in heaven, and cannot stop talking about it! The view, the wildlife, the adventurous excursions, the food, the culture, the house- all not to be believed. It is a 3 hour drive from the airport, but SO, SO worth the trip! Aside from the obvious- the view, wildlife, house, we would highly recommend doing the whitewater rafting through Dominical Surf Adventures (our favorite excursion), set up by the fantastic manager, Daryl. Hacienda Baru, the local zip line, was perfect for first timers. The kayak tour to the caves at the beautiful Playa Ventana, followed by a waterfall visit and swim in Uvita was a great day, as well as walking the Whale's Tail, and strolling along Dominical beach. When relaxing, we lounged in the beautiful infiniti pool and took in the nature- toucans, white faced monkeys, hummingbirds, other beautiful birds etc. Unfortunately, we did not know to make a reservation to Cafe Exotica in advance (we were there during high season), so were unable to get a reservation, but a delicious consolation was Citrus.... really cool, rainforest chic, for lack of a better description, with delicious food. Por Que No? had fabulous views (ask to eat on the lower level near the water) and delicious food. Fresh, delicious fruit can be found right on the highway just south of the villa- the best pineapple ever! This is getting too lengthy, so if you are still reading this, just know that if you book here you can not go wrong. Your eyes will not believe the beauty around you!! Thank you so much to John and Mary, for your vision, and for sharing your heaven with us! We will return one day!! The Quinns CTsee more

CASA DE CINEMA - overlooking Pacific Ocean
A wonderful stay in the hills by the ocean

This is s beautiful property with loads of paved paths through the jungle. We saw as much wildlife from the porch or paths as we have in any national park in Costa Rica. The ocean view from the cinema (which is at your disposal) is to die for. Owners Toby and Kim were incredibly helpful, and charmingly hospitable. One of the best rental experiences we've had to date.see more
Breathtaking Ocean View
When I need a break from reality, I let my mind drift back to Olas Bailando

Relaxing on the deck with a nice glass of wine while watching the first sunset to the next morning enjoying a fresh cup of coffee with the outstanding view of the ocean, I was hooked!!! Each morning I started the day with the short walk to the beach, then strolled along the beach for an hour or two soaking in the sound of the waves, the water on my feet and the serenity of it all. Returning to the wonderful accommodations to relax and sleep in the comfortable bed, it was glorious! The water is good to drink right from the tap, the kitchen is modern with everything you need if you wish to cook in or just bring fresh fruit back from the market to snack on. The bathrooms are clean, spacious, beautifully tiled, and have granite countertops. The outside spigot made it easy to wash the sand off our feet before entering. Cindy was very helpful in providing information on sea kayaking, local restaurants, the animal sanctuary, yoga on the beach, different beaches to visit for varying experiences, it was an amazing adventure. I had an absolute blast enjoying all these activities and I can't wait to return to Dominical and Cindys home - Olas Bailando in Canto del Mar.see more
