“Magical Beach Experience” My Husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We are a young couple in our early 30's and thought It was by far the best place to stay if you are going to be traveling to Puerto Viejo. We were a couple steps away to the beach, the water was crystal clear and calm. We had an unforgettable time here that will last in our memories forever, and would do it all over again in a minute. Angler's Lair--A little slice of heaven
Perfect location for the beach and jungle getaway

I have stayed in many locations on the Caribbean coast in the Puerto Viejo de Talamanca region south of Limon. I consider myself to be an itinerant traveler and I have been to this area six times in the last year. First let me say that if you want to visit any rregion in Costa Rica, this is the one. If you want to stay in any town in the area than Playa Chiquita is it. I woke up every morning for the lazy five minute walk to the beach where I'd put on my snorkling gear and go spear fishing and diving for lobster. The best restaurants in the Caribean are within easy walking distance. The best grocery is right around the corner. The house itself is so beautiful and so original it will make you rethink your concept of what a house is. Relax in the hammock listening to the night time sounds. Visit the local sloths (a pair live in a tree right outside the gate) walk to the Jaguar Rescue, an amazing attraction just down the road. This place has it all (including one of the lowest rental prices you will find). The owners, Nick and Janet are two of my favorite people in the whole world and whether you want to mingle or have privacy you get what you want. The downstairs apartment has kitchen, living room, bathroom (one of the most gorgeous you will ever see thanks to Janet's incredible ability with mosaic and a rescued single piece carved wooden sink that is mind-blowing). I've been here alone, with my wife, and as a family and it was perfect for all three. The garden deserves a review all it's own and is spectacular. C3 Coral Jungle Beach Studio with AC
Perfect location, best service, super clean + friendly !! we lov

Our eight day stay at Sunnyside Studio was the high point of our two week vacation in Costa Rica. This history laden studio is only 4-5 hours from San Jose but a world away from the commotion of "city" life. If you tend to favor the unspoiled ( as opposed to the regimented, all-inclusive type of) destination, then Punta Uva is for you. Transportation is no problem, U.S. currency is accepted, and the Costa Rican people are extremely friendly and welcoming. This very comfortable house is accurately described in the listing, and is indeed just a few steps from a really beautiful, pristine, definitely uncrowded beach. If you tire of sun and sand , there are plenty of activities in the area to break up your day. You will not find any better than manager Evi and Monica, and the caretaker aureliano and Yolanda. They all went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed ourselves and made us feel really welcome. We arrived as strangers, but left as friends. We cannot thank you enough !!! … see more
La Casita Idyllic Garden Getaway
Peace, sloths, and floating in the sea

Just back from La Casita in Cocles, south of Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. I highly recommend this sweet, thatched jungle cottage near the sea. The house is open-air for the living area and kitchen, with blue morpho butterflies fluttering through. The setting is gorgeous jungle by the river with torch ginger, carambola and other fruit trees, and a ylang ylang tree for night fragrance. There are two additional houses for rent on this property, Casita Grande and Casita Nuevo; all have an artsy feel. I enjoyed waking each morning to the roar of the howler monkeys nearby, walking the path to the beach, picking up shells at the tideline, and taking a refreshing swim. The hammock on the porch beckons for reading next. Within walking distance are a gourmet grocery store, internet café, wood-fired pizza place, bread bakery, and a number of "sodas" or small restaurants offering fresh ceviche and Costa Rican specialties. The bustling town of Puerto Viejo is a bike ride away, with live music at night, craft stalls, a bank with aTM, fish market, bars and restaurants. I recommend the chocolate brownies at Bread & Chocolate, the gazpacho at EZ Times, the local crafts at Lulu Berlu, and organic chocolate at the Saturday morning farmer's market. At Pure Jungle Spa, get a chocolate body wrap, then a massage with cocoa butter. You can kayak up river; see turtles nesting on a night tour to Gandoca; bike to Manzanillo for kayaking and fish lunch at Maxis; take the bus to the Sloth Sanctuary with a stop to hike at Cahuita National Park. My best memory is floating in a calm, crystal clear sea, gazing at the most stunning coastline you'll ever see, not a building in sight, only coconut palms and jungle coming right to the sand's edge. Great Getaway for families!!!

We just returned from our trip to Costa Rica and stayed at the Villa Coralina and had a fantastic time! The villa was gorgeous and right from the porch we saw hummingbirds, beautiful butterflies, red-eyed tree frogs, an agouti, and a two-toed sloth!. It is just a 2 minute walk to beautiful, uncrowded beaches. Monica and Evi from Habitat Vacation Rentals were very attentive to our needs, both before we arrived and during our stay. We (parents and 3 teenagers) were very happy with the whole experience and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the Costa Rica jungle in style! … see more
Brand new very cute Jungle Beach House
Great jungle house

This is a great two bedroom home right in the jungle, with Andrews home right up behind. Andrews two dogs are very friendly and provide extra security for home. You can feel very safe here. There is a small but adequate kitchen as we cooked breakfast and dinner here when we didn't eat at Andrews restaurant Chili Rojo located right in the heart of downtown Puerto Viejo. We spent all our time on the porch as bugs were not much of a problem we used a ala coil which burns very slowly and seems to do the trick. Beds are very comfortable and we slept like a baby as the saying goes. Howler monkeys do start about 6am but we got used to it not a big deal. No A/C but ceiling fans do a good job. If you want a costa rican jungle experience and don't need all the amenities this is your place. … see more
