“Relaxed informal atmosphere with wonderful views and great hosts” Have stayed here many times that is a recommendation in itself.Met my brother his wife and daughter from California and New York who like me loved it.It's like home from home, the house is light and airy tastefully furnished with a wonderful wrap around terrace with views of the golf coarse and coast. Very quite and peaceful with a large pool you could be the only one there. A barbecue area and one of Carol's rum punches and all your cares disappear.

“Just wonderful” We stayed here December 4th thru 14th, 2013. The Villa was clean, comfortable and delightful. The hosts are wonderful and kind. We would not hesitate to go back and in fact would look forward to seeing Carol and Dick very much. You can't go wrong here.

“Wonderful stay!” We had a wonderful trip and the apartment was even better than we expected. We had no trouble getting ahold of Sonja when we arrived and she was ready and waiting for us after our taxi arrived. The apartment was very clean, very well furnished and had everything we needed for our stay. Really like a home away from home although the apartment is slightly larger than our house so we reveled in the extra space! We spent the first week mostly hanging around Speightstown, going to the beach a lot and exploring the town. We had breakfast on the balcony every morning; it was wonderful to sit outside and watch the waves. Our son especially loved to stand on the balcony and watch the cars go by (go figure). We did have to rearrange some of the decorations to be out of his reach, but that was a minor thing and I think I put everything back in its proper place. :) The beach was very nice and private; we were the only people using it the vast majority of the time we went down there. All the rocks and coral did make it a little hard to wade with our two year old but we did find some nice sandy spots and he had fun going out a little deeper with us holding him. We spent the second week renting a car and exploring more of the island and found that Speightstown was a very good base for going to most of the attractions that we wanted to see like the wildlife reserve and animal Flower Cave. Overall, we had an excellent trip and would recommend Barbados, and this apartment, to anyone seeking a fun and relaxing family vacation.

“Happy days at Gingerbread Cottage” We,a family of four with two teenagers, spent 10 very happy days at Gingerbread Cottage. The cottage is absolutely charming and the location just stunning. You are so close to nature - our children ate coconuts and passionfruit straight from the trees. The garden is beautifully maintained and we often went for a walk, took our old bananas and fed them to the monkeys at the bottom of the valley. There is a nice breeze most of the time and that means hardly any mosquitos. The pool is huge and has the right amount of sun and shade. Gingerbread Cottage is equipped with everything you need and Carol and her family were very helpful and made us feel special. You do need a car to get to the beaches and shops. We enjoyed the freedom of not staying in a hotel. Thank you to Carol and her family - we will be back!

“Happy Holidays!” We rented the condo for the first two weeks in February 2010. This was our first time renting a condo rather than staying in an all inclusive resort and we were not disappointed at all. As I matter of fact, I believe we seen a lot more than had we stayed on a resort. The condo was very clean and well kept in a quiet neighbourhood. It was close to the beach and water activities. The town was close by as indicated (a short 10 min walk). The local people are very friendly and always willing to help. Peter was great and went out of his way to help out. He was only a phone call away. We travelled on the regular transit buses quite a bit - amazing for only $1.50 bajan where you can go. I would recommend this condo to anyone and I will definitely be returning (hopefully next year)! Thanks Nick and Peter, you were both very helpful. “Great villa, beautiful place, a place to go and go back!” We loved - the villa and its situation - the rooms/beds which were very comfortable - the decoration and all amenities We loved less the fact - that the house was not really clean when we arrived (fridge, doors, loo, etc.) - that the cook, despite being a true sweetheart, was not very qualified and was totally unable to cook a full meal for 9 people 3 times a day, in fact note even one meal a day! - that the housekeepers, despite being asked not to do so, kept changing towels and sheets too often - that the whole staff is very little concerned about saving nature and environment We also think that the sharing of tasks should be reviewed, the staff shouldn't wash the dishes with soap under running hot water before putting them in the dishwasher and wipe them again afterwards (!), the cook shouldn't have to clean the kitchen, pots and so on, the 2 other ladies would have plenty of time to do so! A laundress is certainly not necessary, especially if sheets and towels wouldn't be changed so often. Who does this at home? Their working hours should be reviewed. Impossible to have a cooked breakfast before the arrival of the cook at 9, and then she does the pots/stove from the night before! Impossible to have a proper dinner cooked, served and the kitchen cleaned with someone very slow working from 5 to 8 pm. Cooking, eating and cleaning cannot be achieved in 3 hours! We ended up cooking, cleaning, etc., ourselves and gave the afternoon off to the staff many days! Impossible to have 3 meals between 9 am and 8 pm, including preparation , eating and cleaning!

“Paradise” A fabulous Villa with great character with probably the best location on the island.The private beach is totally private it is very difficult for outsiders to get to it from the public beaches.Staff very friendly and efficient and a fabulous chef/cook. Eight of us stayed there and each couple had their own space.Well worth the money as when split between 4-5 couples works out better value for money than staying in a five star hotel.
