“Great Location - Livable House” Great location in James Bay - walking distance to grocery store, adult beverages, etc. Off street parking is a bonus. Nicely finished and very livable - would walk down to Dallas Road and Beacon Hill Park - great communication with owners. I'd recommend this rental to anyone visiting Victoria who wants some space in a nice, quiet neighbourhood and still be close to downtown.

“Wow your place is such a restful spot” Jeannie, we can't thank you enough for hosting my wife and I recently at Beachwood Cottage. Your place was everything that we could have hoped for and more. It was the perfect nest for us to relax in the sun, breath in the ocean-fresh air, observe the birds and wild life and pick fresh tasty vegetables from your garden for our salad. When we arrived it was clean and as described on the web-site. What a welcoming experience. Thanks again and we both would't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for great value in a natural setting. Dick and Elaine Kirby

“A lovely place!” I recently had my parents out for a visit (they live in Toronto( and they stayed in the Oak Queen suite in Tamsin McIntosh's beautiful heritage house on Linden street in Victoria. My parents were delighted by the historic character of the house and the lovely furnishings and comfortable bed. Tamsin was so helpful and accommodating. She really made their stay perfect! My parents plan to stay here again next time they visit. I highly recommend this place.

Luxury downtown condo, steps to Inner Harbor!!!

Victoria apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“This property was fantastic!” My family of five adults recently (July 2012) stayed at this condo just steps from almost everything in downtown Victoria. The apartment is well appointed, and furnished with more daily necessities than many vacation rentals. It was also exceptionally clean. These observations and several conversations with the owners showed that they are clearly interested in the comfort and well-being of their guests. Having to carry or buy dish soap, bathroom tissue, and the like for a stay of a week or less , something we faced in other properties on our trip, is a real turn-off. Thanks again for everything. Our family enthusiastically recommends Heart of Victoria for visitors to that unique city.

“Great Condo” Beautiful condo, clean, well furnished and lots of extras like hair dryer, shampoo, hand soap and hand cream, Laundry soap and dishwasher soap. Lots of towels and linens. “The Perfect Getaway!” I cannot say enough about Ron and Judy O’Brien and their beautiful vacation suite. We just returned from spending 10 days in beautiful Victoria. The suite was so comfortable and had everything we could imagine. Ron and Judy met us when we arrived and familiarized us with our accommodations. They were more than happy to give us some tips on what to see and where to visit, they even suggested some local musical talent that we enjoyed very much. Thanks to both Ron and Judy, our visit was effortless. This was our first experience renting privately. We own several time shares and vacation exclusively through them, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. Our stay was exceptional. Thank you Ron and Judy. We hope to see you again sometime. “Christmas 2013” What a wonderful Christmas we had in the Robinsons' suite. It had everything we needed to celebrate Christmas including a decorated tree and other seasonal touches (so very thoughtful!). The kitchen has everything and more including an assortment of breakfast items as well as homemade muffins and jam. The unit is cozy and warm despite it being so roomy. We had great sleeps as the bed was very comfy and the nights are quiet. We went in to Victoria often to shop and visit family and found it an easy and quick trip. Thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality!

Victoria apartment

“What a great place!” The andreens were very helpful indeed. The apartment is exceptionally well equipped. It has a lovely view out to the garden, with a pleasant sitting area. It is spacious, beautifully decorated and excellent value for money. The location was perfect for us - 5 minutes to downtown and 5 minutes to Beacon Hill Park. Beautiful views from the cathedral up the hill. Good shopping areas and library. Our visitors were amazed we'd managed to find such a nice place at the price. I don't want to praise it too highly since I want to return and don't want to find it fully booked!

“Convenient location” Central location within walking distance to everything you need - entertainment, the waterfront, groceries, shops, restaurants, and public transit. A compact but well laid out unit. Very clean, but a little wear starting to show on the paint (if that matters to you). Checking in/out was easy, the bakery the keys are located at are just around the corner.

About Victoria

The lovely, clean, and well-tended city of Victoria is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, just off the coast of British Columbia. Unlike most cities on the west coast of North America, Victoria boasts a truly exceptional collection of British colonial architecture, as well as many British inspired traditions. When you arrive in Victoria, get a sense of the city's history by visiting its famous architectural landmarks, such as the Point Ellis House and Gardens and the Parliament Building. You may even consider hiring a horse-drawn carriage to explore the scenery downtown. For a distinctly Victorian experience, gather the family for a traditional English high tea in a place like Gatsby Mansion or the White Heather Tea Room.

In addition to its traditions, Victoria has developed a rather modern flair, partially gleaned from its cosmopolitan cousin, Vancouver. Today, you can find Asian seafood restaurants, trendy cafes, and French-inspired bistros along the streets of Victoria. In the evenings, head out for a live theater performance in one of Victoria's many venues, or catch a classic film in the city's independent cinemas.

A coastal city, Victoria is an excellent place to visit in the summer months, when the days are long and sunny. The walkways around the harbor are one of the city's greatest attractions, offering shops, restaurants, and beautiful views of the water. One of the nicest ways to enjoy Victoria's natural beauty is by hopping on the ferry to tour the harbor. For those who love the wilderness, the pristine coastline is a perfect setting for an eco-adventure, such as canoeing, fishing, kayaking, scuba diving, or boating. Wildlife observation, particularly whale watching, is another major attraction of the region. The waters just off the coast are home to a large pod of killer whales, drawing hundreds of visitors to Victoria year-round.

Here are some of the best things to do in Victoria:

  • Butchart Gardens: Just a bit north of Victoria, these perfectly manicured gardens are a huge attraction. During the summer months, there are fireworks at the gardens every weekend.
  • Craigdarroch Castle: Built by a former coal magnate, this massive residence is a Victoria landmark and open to the public.
  • Royal British Columbia Museum: This small but interesting museum chronicles the history of British Columbia.
  • Art Gallery of Greater Victoria: Located in a restored historic home, this small museum features work by the famous British Columbia artist, Emily Carr.
  • Mount Douglas Park: Hike through lush landscapes of ferns and flowers at this lovely Vancouver Island state park.
  • Gulf Islands: Located just off the mainland, this gorgeous chain of small Pacific isles is a picturesque destination for sailing, fishing, and hiking.

If you are planning to visit Victoria, look for a lovely condo or luxury apartment near the city center or the harbor. Snagging a spacious villa by the coast can make your trip to British Columbia all the more relaxing. Ideal for a family, a vacation rental offers the space and privacy you can rarely find in a hotel.

Lakefront Charm; City and Country Combined!
Location, View and Location

I spent a month at this beautiful lake house and just loved my time here. The house is gorgeous and everything you could possibly need is provided. The owner says she’s a ‘stickler’ for details and you can really tell she’s thought of everything you may want. The kitchen even had a crock pot and magic bullet. The yard and lake are stunning. There are so many cozy places to sit; under the wisteria, on the dock, by the outdoor stove, under the apple tree. We really enjoyed the apples and all the creatures that seemed to want apples every day. The rabbits, deer, birds and squirrels were plentiful, I even saw a mink. The house is so private and located in a quiet cul du sac that it is hard to believe you can walk to the grocery store and movie theater in 20 minutes. There are so many beautiful walks and trails around different lakes where you can leave straight from your door and don’t need to drive anywhere. We even walked to Goldstream provincial park to watch the salmon run. We rented bikes for $3 an hour at the community center, located a few minutes away, and biked on a dedicated path called ‘The Galloping Goose’ that went straight into downtown Victoria. East Sooke Regional Park is about 20 minutes away and had tons of beautiful coastline hiking. Even after a month visit there were still parks I hadn’t gotten to yet, there are just so many around that area. If you are looking for peace, scenery and a perfect home base to explore the area stay at the lake house. I just can’t say enough great things about it!see more

Ideal and perfect

We stayed for a week and felt right at home. The suite was very comfortable, spacious, quiet and well appointed. Ron and Judy have thought of everything and are very good hosts. We have stayed in many hotels in Victoria in the past and I only wish we had found this place sooner. We will definitely return and cannot recommend it enough.see more

30th Anniversary in Victoria

This loft is simply amazing. We decided to visit Victoria for our anniversary as we had spent our honeymoon there 30 years ago. I found the loft on VRBO and it was better than we could have imagined. AMAZING location, right downtown within walking distance to everything. The owners could not have been nicer, meeting us at the unit and explaining TV, Kitchen, etc. I would absolutely recommend this unit to anyone!!see more

Fantastic place to stay, affordable and the location was perfect!

My wife and I stayed here for a week in late June. The home owner has everything set up for easy access and comfort!! She does an amazing job making sure you have everything you need for your stay. The basement suite was perfect for what we needed, a 5 min drive from all the downtown/harbor activities. There is also a grocery store, fast food and coffee shops just down the street! When we were in Victoria, the weather was very hot, so the basement suite was perfect as it stayed nice and cool for us which made sleeping comfortable. I would highly recommend this to anyone planning on staying in Victoria. With the full kitchen we were able to go grocery shopping and cook our breakfasts to save money!!see more

Oaklands 8 - a top quality, n/s self-catered oasis
Exceeded expectations

The unit was very clean in a quiet neighborhood. The bed was comfortable and we slept well with the window cracked. We were on the go during most of our stay so we did not occupy the unit for long, but it was welcoming when we returned at the end of each day. John was very accommodating and quite informative of Victoria and surrounding area. A plus on this one!see more
