Description from owner

Description

Within easy reach of Saunton Sands and the famous Croyde Bay surf beach, Saunton Golf Club, the Tarka Trail for cycling, the South West Coast path. The Gallery Lodges are situated close to Braunton Burrows UNESCO biosphere an incredible area to discover, with sand dunes, wildflowers, remote beaches and estuary bird watching.

Lovely, bright lodge for 2 adults set in meadow land. Contemporary design.

The lodges are ADULT ONLY and we do have restrictions on extra visitors to help maintain the peaceful atmosphere for all our guests. (Check our House Rules before booking.)

The cedar clad lodge has tall sunny windows, which face south and benefit from sunshine throughout the day. It is decorated with Pete Caswell’s paintings of sea, surf and sunsets. There is car parking for one car next to the lodge and a further space for larger vehicles or a second car in the guest parking area. The lodge has a deck with outdoor dining furniture, and a shade sail in the summer months. An outdoor tap and plenty of outdoor space makes washing down and storing surf equipment easy.

The bedroom has a king size, comfortable bed. The bedroom is spacious and includes a wardrobe, dressing table or chest with chair, bedside tables, hairdryer and Bluetooth alarm.

All bed linen is included, as well as two bath towels and a hand towel per person. On stays of 5 nights or more a mid-stay towel change is offered, and linen change can also be arranged.

Next to the lounge is a gorgeous, modern bathroom with natural stone tiles, walk in shower, heated towel rail and mirror with de-mister and shaving socket. The lodge has electric under-floor heating throughout so you will always be comfortable and warm, whatever the weather.

The living/dining room at the centre of the lodge has a kitchenette and space to dine inside. There is also a sofa, Freeview TV, coffee table and bookshelf stocked with books, games, maps and local information. Free wifi throughout. The tall glass French doors make this a bright sunny space and the entrance leads out onto the decking area. (See each lodge for differences in furnishing details).

The thoughtfully equipped kitchenette includes wine glasses and cafetiere along with all the basics you need to self-cater - ideal for making breakfast and light meals. There is a 2 ring hob, microwave and fridge, with a small integral freezer compartment. Cleaning liquids, cloths etc are also included. We also provide a few little extras such as fresh flowers and milk, tea, biscuits and fresh filter coffee, to get you started. Pixie Dell corner shop and off licence is 10 minutes walk away, for basic groceries and newspapers. The village offers a great selection of delis, local supermarkets, a co-op and Tesco.

This is one of three, cedar clad, architectural lodges set in a hay meadow and new orchard adjacent to Pete Caswell's Art Studio and Gallery. The lodge is decorated with Pete's original art work and you are welcome to visit the gallery. Full of life and colour, sea breezes and sea light fill the air.

The popular Tarka Trail for cyclists is accessible from near the property. More challenging rides are also available to Ilfracombe and the North Devon coastline. Cycle hire is available in the village.

The nearest beach at Saunton Sands is 1.7miles by car and a little further round the headland is the famous surf beach at Croyde. You can also access the beach over the sand dunes by parking in the Sandy Lane car park (1 mile away) or drive/cycle along the toll road to the estuary at Crow Point. While the beach is about 1.7 miles away, it is not advisable to walk there from the site due to the lack of a footpath. You can only walk to Saunton beach down the country lane and over the dunes, but it is a fair walk, probably 2.5 miles one way.

There is a regular bus service 200m from the site which will take you to many of the nearby beaches & places of interest: Saunton beach, Croyde beach, Barnstaple, Bideford and Westward Ho! with connections at Braunton to Ilfracombe, or from Barnstaple to many other areas. Provides access for walking stages of the South West Coast Path.

Please check the House Rules before booking as we do have some restrictions. These properties are for adults only. Maximum of 2 persons per lodge. Minimum age 21 years. No pets allowed. No children or Infants. Some visiting guest restrictions.

The 3 lodges are all listed on holiday lettings. listing numbers - 6570301, 7316557, 7816773. See lodge 2 if you require adaptations for reduced mobility. Web site for the lodges is at thegallerylodges co uk

Getting around

Stagecoach bus 21 runs through Braunton near the Gallery Lodges in the direction of Croyde/Georgeham or towards Barnstaple. The timetables change seasonally, so please check online. Nearest bus stop is called West Meadow Road. Good car access to the beaches of Saunton Sands and Croyde, both now have parking options from £1.00 for 1 hour to full day rates giving great flexibility. Cycle the Tarka Trail or to Crow Point with access via small country lanes from the lodges. Otter Cycle Hire in Braunton village, 1 mile away. More challenging routes on the North Devon coast. Level walking to the village, but we do not recommend walking to the sea along the busy roads as there is no footpath in this direction.

Interaction with guest

We live on the site and will meet you with the keys. We can arrange late arrivals on request and try to accommodate early arrivals where possible. We have lots of ideas for places to eat, walks, surf lessons, bike rides etc and will be happy to help. The lodges also have maps and books on the local area as well as menu suggestions from some of our favourite restaurants. We'll be on hand to help with any queries or questions throughout your stay, if you need us, otherwise we will leave you to enjoy your stay.
