“Beautiful area and very well equipped”

Reviewed 5 Nov 2022

We stayed at Herd House in the half term October 2022. Catherine, our host, was welcoming and made sure we had everything that we needed for our stay. The accommodation is spacious and very well equipped, the washing machine came in very handy after one of our more adventurous walks in the area. We chose this location as it was central to several places we wanted to visit in Lancashire and Cumbria. It is close to the motorways meaning you can get places quickly. I would say perhaps some things in the accommodation could be updated, but this didn't detract from our stay at all. We would definitely consider staying again on our next trip to Lancashire.

“A really great getaway - relaxing and fun environment.”

Reviewed 21 Jan 2013

The cottage was perfect and exactly as we'd hoped. Catherine ensured all our needs were met and made us feel welcome in the holiday cottage. The cottage was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed for a really lovely weekend with friends. The location is also great for walks. I would highly recommend, and hope to visit again in the future. Thank you for having us :)

“Everything we hoped it would be and more for large family reunion!”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2012

The rental property is set in the most amazingly beautiful surroundings; the house was really spacious and warm and had everything we needed. Large kitchen, with large cooker, fridge and freezer. Beds were very high quality and great that towels were supplied. All furniture was good quality. There was building work going on outside on the house next door so am not sure how I would have felt about this if I had gone for a summer let, but it did not bother us as we were there for a long weekend in October and it was too cold to be sat outside! It is set in a riding school and three of our children had an hours riding lesson on Sat early evening - they loved it. The comings and goings of cars was not excessive and we were not around during the day on Sat so not affected. Great place to stay!! The only constructive feedback I would give is to put a working lock on the bathroom door :0) Cath is very welcoming; she popped by on Friday night to check everything was ok, and to meet us; she has created an amazing rental property - we loved it!
