Description from owner

Description

We are providing a deep clean between guests.

This Tourist Board three-star rated Gold Award property with its high-quality furnishings, pretty, village setting and handy location is only 11 miles or fifteen minutes drive from Cambridge, and provides excellent value for money.

The White Barn is a newly refurbished, traditional weather-boarded barn in the beautiful village of Hilton. With tasteful, comfortable furnishings and plenty of character, it provides ground floor accommodation with an ensuite bedroom and light and airy open plan sitting room where French doors open on to the private patio garden.

The Barn is a self-contained unit adjacent to the owners' Victorian house and garden, and close to Hilton's medieval church, prized turf maze, and splendid Green designed by Capability Brown which is surrounded by historic buildings.

The White Barn is privately owned and family managed. It is well situated, close to the historic market towns of St Ives, Huntingdon and Ely, and within easy access of Cambridge. It lies in the heart of beautiful Fenland scenery with its many historic and wildlife attractions. It has wi-fi internet access with super-fast fiber-optic broadband.

“Brilliant”

Very well placed to visit places in Cambridgeshire. The White Barn was, as usual, very clean, warm and cosy. Everything one could need was supplied. I would thoroughly recomment The White Barn.

“Lovely cottage but too near a very busy road”

Response from the owner We’re so sorry to hear that you had a noisy stay. You are quite right that there was a temporary increase in traffic during the period you were here due to works on the new A14. The bridge across the old A14 to a nearby village (Swavesey) had been closed, and so all traffic was being forced through our village. We too noted the increased volume in this period, but we would like to assure future guests that this will not be the case in future, as the new bridges are now in place. However, we do take the matter of noise very seriously, and would not like anyone to have sleepless nights, and so we will be introducing secondary glazing into the Barn very shortly. This will be in place by the end of December, making for a quiet and cosy stay.

Response from the owner Thanks very much for a great review! You were quite right about the garden - it has now benefitted from a tidy up. The garden patio will be being relaid shortly and so it should be looking pretty good by then!

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your review. Very glad the parking was so easy - we have just had the old gravel drive replaced with a proper drive, so there is plenty of room and it is easy to manoeuvre and drive on and off.

“Well positioned for exploring Cambridgeshire”

Response from the owner Thanks so much for such a great review! We're really glad you took advantage of the busway. It does work really well and runs frequently. It's only 6 minutes drive to the busway at St Ives and they have a huge car park there. It means you can spend as long as you like in Cambridge. Other places to go on a return visit, we'd recommend the cathedral at Peterborough and the fantastic iron age village at Flag Fen (on the BBC recently - Britain's Pompeii).
