Description from owner

Description

Once you reach Owslow Cottage your holiday and the relaxation begins. We have lots to offer our guests:

You’ll love the rural location of my place with views of the Derbyshire Dales countryside and Carsington Reservoir. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends (dogs). My place is close to public transport but a car would be advisable.

We have Alpacas on the farm for you to get to know and enjoy an ‘Alpaca Walking Experience’ as an optional extra. We offer a 10% discount for all of our lovely guests with our discount code. Pre-booking is highly recommended!!

To the front of the cottage, your guests can enjoy a luxurious and inviting hot tub overlooking Carsington Reservoir ensuring everyone will be delighted with their stay. However, we do restrict hot tub use to the hours of 09:00-22:00 as we want to respect our neighbours, so if you’re thinking of ‘all night’ hot tub parties with lots of loud music, I’m afraid this cottage is not the place for you!

In the heart of the beautiful Derbyshire Dales and on the edge of the Peak District, Owslow Farm is a working organic beef and lamb farm and the cottage offers a combination of traditional features and modern accommodation. The property is approximately 400 years old and stands in its 400 acres. It is very welcoming and boasts exposed stone and beams, and fabulous countryside views.

A beautiful blooming enclosed courtyard of trailing colourful flowers and pot plants, comfortable rattan furniture and coffee table for your enjoyment and relaxation at the back of the cottage.

There are many facilities on the farm that can be enjoyed by the whole family, making this a fantastic property for a holiday in this area. We lamb our sheep during March and April - children are most welcome to help bottle feed lambs and calves under adult supervision, on request. We do ask that dogs are kept on a lead when walking the fields around this time of year. We are extremely dog friendly but do ask for a small charge of £25.00 to accommodate up to 2 dogs. We also have a range of animals such as alpacas, lamas, free-range hens, ducks, geese, dogs and cats.

Everything will be clean, warm and welcoming for your arrival including fresh linen, toasty warm alpaca duvets, robes and towels.

We hope that your stay at Owslow Cottage will be as enjoyable as possible.

“Excellent Xmas gift”

Reviewed 27 Dec 2019

This cottage is an excellent find, lovely setting with everything you need for a home from home kind of a break. Very well equipped, lovely and clean and a really homely feel about the cottage- perfect for our first Xmas away from home. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners. There if needed. Even put up a Xmas tree for our special Xmas break.

“Perfect”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2019

If I were to write about all of the good things about this lovely cottage, I’d be writing forever. The cottage was exactly as the pictures show (except it feels bigger in person). Everything was immaculately clean and beautifully presented. The heating was on when we arrived so it was lovely and cosy! Tea and coffee, wine and crisps made for a perfect welcome after a our day out in the rain. Extras like this are so thoughtful and much appreciated. Our children were so well provided for with cutlery, plastic plates, booster seat, stair gate, bed guard toys etc. They loved playing in the garden and feeding the animals even though it was (very) wet. The owners are extremely friendly but happily left us to it - only a text or knock away - which suited us perfectly. We would wholly recommend!

Recently enjoyed a very relaxing stay at this 'home from home' cottage. Perfect location, cottage is well equipped and the kids loved being able to feed the lamas each morning on the farm. We look forward to returning. The view across to Carsington Water was lovely from the bedroom window.
