Relax, at Exmoor Cottage Holidays, in front of the log-burning stove, or dine al fresco on the decking outside this charming cottage which is all on one level, ideal for couples & pets, and anyone who may have difficulty with stairs. Wisteria Cottage is in a peaceful village (Challacombe) location and is very warm and comfortable with character features, enclosed garden and patio, large children's play area and just five minutes walk from a shop and pub.
Wisteria Cottage (part of "Town Tenement Farm") is very cosy and snug, having recently been renovated from a barn to modern standards (including full double-glazing and very highly insulated). There is a large sitting room with log-burning stove, comfortable seating and Freeview TV. There are large folding doors to a decking overlooking a lovely enclosed garden with a picnic table.
There is a well-equipped kitchen/dining room with oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washer-dryer, a generous king-size double bedroom (which can be made into a twin) and a lovely shower-room with a large shower cubicle, hand-basin & WC.
No-one can get bored at Wisteria Cottage. If the free WiFi and nearly 100 Freeview TV channels aren't enough there are many books, games & DVD's, and three acres of grounds to explore; with wild-flower meadows, wildlife pond; and a delightful walk up and around Humphrey's Hill, where there are lovely views of Exmoor, perfect for a picnic.
A cot and high chair are usually available to hire (£5 each), a fire guard and safety gate are available free of charge, and towel sets available for hire (£5 per set comprising bath towel and hand towel) - all subject to availability - please check well in advance and book early if available.
Pets are very welcome £20 per stay/per pet, payable on arrival. The types and numbers of pets MUST be mentioned in advance, preferably in the Message To Owner section of the Booking Request. Not all pets will be welcome and there are number limits - please check in advance. Hand-soap, cleaning materials and tea towels are provided, and a welcome pack with a few essentials (until you can get to a shop) including a basket of logs & kindling, tea, coffee, sugar, fresh milk, bin bag, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner & matches.
Wisteria Cottage is in the quiet and peaceful village of Challacombe and within the Exmoor National Park. Within 300 yards is an excellent pub with award-winning food and real ales, and a handy general shop and Post Office. Challacombe has excellent local walks and is an ideal central location from which to explore Exmoor, the sandy beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde, and the spectacular coastline of North Devon & Somerset.
Wisteria Cottage is one of five holiday cottages (known as "Exmoor Cottage Holidays") converted from a former farm. The cottages form a 'U' shape around a charming courtyard and each has a log burning stove and an enclosed garden. The other four cottages (sleeping 1-6 people) are also available, look under "Challacombe". The owners, John & Melanie Moore, live just next door and like to greet all customers personally. We are usually available most days help you plan your day.

“Perfect”
We would like to thank Mel and John for the perfect cottage we had the pleasure of staying in .The pub only 2mins away served the best burger I have ever had and staff are very polite and helpful. We took our 2 dogs with us had the most beautiful weather and the stream very near by was a welcome way for them to cool down. Mel is very helpful and nothing is is too much trouble for her ...thankyou once again we will be back . Xx

“A perfect place for a relaxing weekend”
It's nearly a month since we've been there and myself and my partner are still talking about our Exmoor experience. Wisteria cottage added to its magic. It was very cosy and clean. Was perfect for 2! I have recommended it to many of my friends! We will be back one day!

“Wisteria Cottage - Quiet, Cosy, Comfortable, Just What We Needed”
We and our dog have just returned from a very pleasant, relaxing week at Wisteria cottage. The cottage is in a quiet area and is cosy, comfortable and remarkable well equipped; a regular home from home, with great wi-fi. There are lots of lovely local walks and the Black Venus, a very short walk away, provided us with some extremely tasty meals. Melanie and John were remarkably willing and helpful and their local knowledge guided us to some lovely interesting places and dog walks. We look forward to visiting again and happily recommend Wisteria for a “get away from it all” holiday. Eira & David

“Lovely Cottage in Tranquil Location”
Booked at the last minute when the 'lockdown' was eased and being relatively local this was a great opportunity to explore the West side of Exmoor. The Cottage is incredibly cosy and warm and has all the amenities you would need for a week's stay (or longer). There are lots of opportunities for hiking, which is why we went there, but also sight-seeing and coastal exploration. Due to the lockdown we didn't visit any of the local shops and pubs but we did go to the Esplanade Fish Bar (Fish and Chips Takeaway) in Lynmouth at the end of a hike which is to be recommended. Overall, Wisteria Cottage is a great place to stay for a 'get away from it all' holiday and you will not be disappointed. Even on the one day where it rained most of the day we availed ourselves of the books, DVD's and Scrabble provided in the Cottage and had a great day just doing that.
