Description

NOTE - Shared garden, gates, parking and waste bins.

Brewery Cottage is a very well appointed and characterful single story cottage set in the rear garden of a historic town house, close to Chichester city centre. Having been converted from what was once the billiard room of an old pub, the cottage retains some of its original character while also offering the conveniences of modern living and very comfortable, high quality accommodation. The access is via the rear courtyard to the main house, through secure gates. There is a parking space available to guests in this courtyard, as well as an outside seating area in the gardens. The parking space is secure with electronic gates. Please note the garden is shared with the property owner.

The cottage itself offers a large, open-plan sitting and dining area, with the kitchen set back in one corner. You can relax on the very comfy sofas and on those colder nights, keep warm in front of the wood burning stove. The kitchen area is well equipped and includes a combination microwave and oven, ceramic hob and dishwasher. The double bedroom leads off from the main living area and through to the en-suite shower room with modern and stylish fittings.

Brewery Cottage is just a short walk from one of the four main shopping streets in Chichester city centre. It is also within walking distance of the famous Festival Theatre and Cathedral, as well as both local and larger shops, making it an ideal location from which to be based. Chichester is an historic city with strong Roman connections and has an enormous array of things to do and places to visit. The city is blessed with a variety of beautiful architecture, with great care having been taken to preserve its character. The ancient walls surround the city centre and one can walk along them, through various scenic parks. There is a thriving tennis and squash club, along with various fitness and health clubs and there is a selection of shops and restaurants, the latter offering excellent choices for the most varied culinary tastes.

Just to the north of Chichester are the stunning South Downs, with lovely rolling countryside and as well as many picturesque Downland villages. There is the Goodwood horse racing track to visit, along with the world famous motor sports events held annually, such as the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival. Golf is also available at Goodwood and the polo at Cowdray Park, near Midhurst, is just a short drive away. There is excellent sailing in Chichester Harbour, as well as windsurfing at the Witterings and diving at Bracklesham Bay. London is less than 2 hours away, either by road or rail.

“In these difficult times it was just what we needed”

Reviewed 3 Oct 2020

The cottage was so well equipped and very comfortable , it was much bigger than we expected ,plenty of room for two people . Only a 15 minute walk into the town for all your restaurants and cafes , and only a 5 minute walk to the Crate and Apple pub which was very cosy and friendly. Loved Chichester while the main street is like any other get down the little side streets with all independent shops and cafes. The train station is only 10 minute walk from the cottage and great for visiting further afield especially if you have no car . The owners are on site and very friendly ,we will definitely book again ,it's hard to find cottages for two people than don't cost the earth .

“Lovely cottage in the centre of Chichester”

Reviewed 18 Feb 2016

A lovely, comfortable, well-equipped cottage. The cottage is situated in part of a walled garden belonging to a larger house in central Chichester. The location is very convenient for all of the local attractions, shops and restaurants while at the same time is in a peaceful setting..

“Lovely Cottage in walking distance to City centre”

Reviewed 9 Dec 2014

Brewery Cottage was warm, comfortable & cosy. The Internet was reliable & the kitchen was well equiped however it doesn't have a clothes washing machine. The owner lives on the same property so the cottage isn't completely private. Parking is provided & it's a quiet area.

“Home from home in centre of Chichester - beautiful”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2014

Brewery Cottage is roomy, very well equipped and extremely comfortable. I believe the photos do not do it justice: sitting room, bedroom, bathroom are all very spacious. Kitchen is great: very well equipped. Desk in living room and great WiFi signal. Light and airy. Windows are at the side of the building - so cottage is far brighter than might appear from exterior photo. Secure gate entrance. Radiators heated whole cottage very quickly. Few minutes walk from Cathedral and shops, restaurants, etc. Theatre is a longer walk (or bus ride). Buses run from Cathedral to coastal areas and across Sussex - great for sightseeing. Brewery Cottage was my first 'base' as we made our return to the UK; didn't need a car. What a great welcome - couldn't have found anything better. Thank You.

“Lovely property in an excellent location”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2014

We had a lovely week in this cottage /bungalow in the grounds of the owners property. It is spacious for two , modern decor and well equipped. We travelled by train and it is easy to walk to the station and go out and about and there are lots of eating places within easy walking distance. It is very quiet despite it's city location and very comfortable. There is also a lovely garden to sit in separate from the owners garden. If you come by car there is also private secure parking. Chichester is a lovely city and the surrounding area is beautiful and there is some great walking.
