Description from owner

Description

The Old Studio is a beautiful stone cottage, at the bottom of a private garden, in our home town of Chipping Campden. Situated in the heart of our vibrant community, the cottage reflects the style of our renowned interior design business. The cottage sleeps four and has been thoughtfully curated to provide the self-catering version of a boutique hotel experience.

Cook and chat in the open plan living-dining area or if the sun's out, the terrace is a top choice for a restoring drink.

In summer, the race is on to open the huge French doors and let in the distant valley views and the balmy breezes.

There's also a sunny patio with comfy seating and a pizza oven that doubles up as a warming fire if the evening is a bit chilly.

In winter, you'll come home to toasty warmth in front of a double-sided wood-burning stove. Pour the drinks and let the conversation flow.

We've made this cottage a home from home so that you can relax in the squishy comfort of George Smith upholstery and be assured of a comfortable night in Vi-sprung beds. There's plenty of room for 4 people and for a travel cot.

The cottage is ideal for rest and relaxation or as a convenient base for visiting the many local attractions. The Cotswolds is an area of outstanding natural beauty and the countryside is scattered with beautiful walks for all abilities. Its' many towns and villages offer a mix of old world charm alongside high quality eateries, interesting independent shops, galleries and local food artisans. Cheltenham, Bath, Oxford, Stratford upon Avon and Warwick Castle are all within easy driving distance.

Please be aware that like most Cotswold cottages the bedrooms have been built into the eaves of the building and have restricted head height in some areas.

We share parts of the garden with our guests. We park in the same area and we walk through the garden regularly.

Getting around

It's easy to get here by train from London, but once here it's advisable to rent a car for a few days at least. Part of the charm of the Cotswolds is getting off the beaten track and discovering the many hidden hamlets and villages that make the area so distinctive. If you don't fancy driving then there are plenty of tour guides.

We aim to strike a happy balance between being available to give advice and assistance when needed, while also giving guests plenty of privacy to enjoy a relaxing holiday

“Great Position to access Chipping Camden and countryside walks”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2019

The Studio was perfect for our visit to Chipping Camden. We had a wonderful time in this beautiful town with family, and were made to feel very welcome. Thank you Helen and Michael

“Perfect cottage”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2019

Perfect little cottage that had everything we needed for 4 adults and 2 toddlers. Safe enclosed garden/patio area for the kids to run around in with room for a BBQ - peaceful, chilled out with some great places to visit on the doorstep. We didn't want to go home at the end of the weekend.

Response from the owner Hi Doreen Thanks for taking the time to write a review and we're delighted you enjoyed your stay. I wanted to make a few more remarks about the low ceilings so that other travellers can be informed. The Cotswold vernacular architecture is that bedrooms are commonly built into roof spaces with dormer windows. This does mean that there are low beams. As Doreen correctly pointed out - if you are taller than 5'5 then there are beams that you need to avoid, but this is a normal part of living in the Cotswolds. They must have been shorter in those days! I'm not sure why the washer took 3 hours - there are quite a few choices of wash programmes and I'm sure there are shorter ones. We are always happy to let people use our dryer. It's located in an outhouse so our guests don't need to worry about intruding. We hope you had a safe trip home Doreen. Best wishes Helen & Michael
