“Very good cottage”
This is a nice cottage in a nice part of the country. It is ideal for a couple and just big enough. Free parking opposite the cottage and lovely gardens to the rear, which are ideal for dogs. You get … More

“Beautiful area, shame about the cottage”
We booked for 7 nights mid September to take our small dog for a countryside break. Unfortunately although the property had been described as pet friendly, it was located literally right on a country… More

Response from the manager Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us, although we are quite devastated by your posting about your experience at our family run enterprise. If any part of housekeeping is not up to scratch we would expect to learn of this directly from you rather than via a posting on a review site like this. Its not only the polite and proper way to do it but also how can we be expected to help and ensure you have a good holiday after you've left and gone home. The list of defects you mention can neither be believed by us or checked out fully, this is so out of character to our usual standards and the findings from our own guests surveys, were over 98% of guests reward us with top marks for cleanliness out of a current total of 321 respondents. Why would anyone not make contact with us regarding such a poor level of cleanliness that you suggest. We invite you, in our pre-arrival letter, quite clearly, to tell us if 'anything' is not to your satisfaction. In the property we have a telephone for you with a 'direct line' to our office and our Mobile phone but we heard nothing. Our guest information folder clear requests that anything you are not happy about is best reported whilst with us rather than afterwards. Courtyard Cottage is a delightful property with lots if individuality, At one time this was the steam house to power the mill and is set aside next to the courtyard and the gardens. The property description does state 'The landing leads to a small shower room with power shower' This is a standard 700x700 cubicle. Our photographs show the windows in the lounge and the bedroom and light level is not an issue for us in this quaint 350 year old cottage. We live just next door and our dog lived for 15 years here and was never put on a lead in the vicinity. If your dog is well behaved the issue of traffic (about 10 cars a day) which might pass down this very private country lane should not give concern to any dog owner, indeed the access to our stunning countryside and our own woodlands from the door step is welcomed by all..normally. We are so pleased though that you enjoyed the area, the Forest of Bowland is simply delightful and well worth exploring. Had you found the courage to speak with us whilst on your break, we could have addressed your problems - even perhaps moved you to another of our collection of individual properties where you might have been more comfortable to continue with your exploration of the Area. Can I please plead with you though that in future if you have a complaint, allow folks to help put things right - I think that is only fair, don't you?
