Description from owner

Description

Situated on a private lane near the heart of Comrie, this newly renovated property is ideal for both summer and winter holidays. The secluded garden is ideal for summer barbeques, with extensive mature planting, a patio and private parking for two cars. In winter the central heating system, large open fire and separate wood burning stove add both atmosphere and a distinct sense of luxury. The cottage combines the character of the traditional building with new contemporary spaces, including a striking timber and glass tower, providing both convenience and an inspiring atmosphere in which to relax.

The area around Comrie contains a mixture of farmland, rivers, mountains, lochs and forests - it provides a wealth of experiences for any age of visitor including walking, cycling, golf, fishing, horse riding and adventure sports.

Visitors interested in the culture, history and heritage of Scotland can visit distilleries, castles, theatres and shops within a short drive of Comrie. The area is famous for the quality of its local produce, including renowned Scottish delicacies such as wild salmon, game and venison. There are several farm shops located locally, providing high quality ingredients for you to cook at home, while a number of cafes and restaurants in the area also make extensive use of local produce. Both Crieff Hydro and Gleneagles Hotel offer a range of spa services, fine dining and swimming pools and make an excellent day out if the weather is poor.

Being in a village can be attractive holiday for people with mobility issues. The private car parking area gives reasonably level access to the rear door and the slate floor covering, wide doors and ample manoeuvring space on the ground floor would be ideal for someone with mobility difficulties.

Getting around

Comrie is in the centre of Scotland, so an ideal base for visiting towns and countryside. You can visit Edinburgh or the West Coast within a couple of hours travel. However, our guests often comment that one of the best things about Comrie is that you can do so much without having to constantly drive. There are a multitude of walks directly from the cottage (you can just walk off into the Highlands) and you can walk to our local Hotels and Restaurants.

Interaction with guest

The Cottage is privately owned by myself (Alistair) and my wife Sheila. It is the only one we have, so we pay lots of attention to making sure it is in perfect condition. Once direct contact is sanctioned by Holiday Lettings, communication is direct with ourselves and is usually informal and personal. We issue our Visitor's Notes and other information by email and chat on the phone if anything complex arises. We are delighted to advise on anything which helps our guests enjoy their holiday - from local walks to restaurants and shopping opportunities.

2. Cottage to be left reasonably clean and tidy - or we can arrange an enhanced cleaning service if you require.
3. We don't accept bookings from groups such as Stag or Hen Parties.
All of these are described in more detail in our Visitor's Notes, which we issue to all arriving guests.

“Paradise in Perthshire”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2022

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful house, a great place for an extended family visit with everything we needed for our little granddaughter too. So easy to walk to the village shops - several general stores, a deli, butcher, greengrocers and good restaurants too. Excellent walks too so we hardly used the car. A bonus for us was free EV charging in the local car park. The sun shine so we enjoyed the garden but this would be a cosy place in bad weather too with plenty of space.
