Description from owner

Description

Private access to apartment within family home but separate from main house, ideally situated within the heart of Perthshire. Comprises of double bedroom (king or twin beds), private sitting room with open fire, Freeview TV, DVD, kitchen and bathroom with bath and shower.

Kitchen comprises of microwave oven with in-built grill and conventional oven facilities with one counter top hob plate. There is toaster, kettle, fridge and dining space for two within the kitchen. There is NO DISH WASHING OR LAUNDRY FACILITIES (only hand washing facilities) and so would probably better suit shorter length stays.

Situated within the village of Birnam which sits beside the River Tay, half a mile off the A9, thirteen miles north of Perth and near the picturesque village of Dunkeld. It is five minutes walk from the train station servicing the main line north to Inverness (and trains do stop in the village), which gives ease of travel both north to Inverness and south to Perth and on to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and the main route down to London. Trains from Inverness to London stop at Dunkeld & Birnam station. Citylink and Stagecoach buses stop nearby for services both locally and major cities.

Local attractions are many: the Birnam Arts Centre holds exhibitions, conferences and has many arts and crafts workshops, plus an excellent cafe and library, the famous Taybank Hotel which has live music, the Dunkeld Hilton with its health club and Dunkeld Cathedral and the Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve, along with Blair Atholl Castle which holds the Blair Atholl horse trials, Pitlochry Theatre, Loch Tay and many more tourist attractions within a short driving distance. It is about three-quarters of an hour's drive to the famous Golf Open at Gleneagles too! Situated right in the centre of Scotland with the A9 motorway at hand and great public transport it couldn't be a better choice of location for a holiday.

The area is ideal for walkers, fishers, wildlife enthusiasts, art and music lovers, hill climbers and for those visitors just simply wanting a relaxing holiday in arguably the most beautiful part of Scotland.

“Comfy annexe, handy to walk into Birnam and Dunkeld”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2022

We stayed at Viewpark for 4 nights. We enjoyed staying in this very comfy annex to main cottage, with a lovely walk into Birnam and Dunkeld. The owner Elseth, lives in the other half of the cottage. Elspeth is very friendly and helpful but not intrusive, there is a sepatate front door to the annex. The cottage has a very comfy settee and king sized bed, and a very roomy bathroom, excellent heating. The little kitchen was fine for two, with table and seating for 2. The only slight downside is the poor wi fi, which meant we couldn't stream netflix and our phones only worked intermittently. However, the upside was I read a book instead! There is an excellent supply of books, dvds and games, so yes, an old fashioned enjoyable stay. Thank you Elspeth.

“A lovely step back in time”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2020

Very comfortable quirky and old fashioned apartment separately situated in the owner’s house. Everything you could want including a bathroom with a corner bath and a separate shower, very comfy bed and a delightful lounge with a fine open fire and a great tv. We really enjoyed our stay here and it’s very well located for walking into Dunkeld and enjoying the many nearby well marked footpaths. Dunkeld is a joy and the River Tay there very impressive. Thanks Elspeth for a great time.
