About Grand Marais
Located between Sawtooth Mountains and Lake Superior, Grand Marais is a popular resort with musicians, artists and photographers due its status as a creative hub. It has a population of 1351, according to the 2010 status, and therefore has a true small-town feel.
The name of 'Grand Marais' is French for 'great marsh', and refers to the almost 20 acres of marshland that existed during the early years of settlement.

To reach Grand Marais by car, you'll need to travel the Minnesota Highway 61 which lies North of Lake Superior. It would be advised to bring your own car or hire one for the duration of your stay. Because of the small numbers of residents, public transport isn’t the most efficient way to travel.
