Description

We offer a very simple, low cost room to rent in our family house as we want everybody to have the possibility of enjoying this lovely corner of Chianti.

Our guests can relax outside in the gardens or up in the olive groves, listen to the birdsong, immerse themselves in the gorgeous Chianti countryside and gaze up at the stars at night.

The accommodation has its own entrance, separate from the rest of the house, opening onto a lovely terrace that looks out over the garden. The room itself is clean and cosy (that is 'mignon'!) with a large, very comfortable bed. Outside, on the terrace, there is a kitchen area with a small stove and fridge for preparing light meals and a table and chairs for dining 'al fresco'. We also have a barbeque that our guests are welcome to use.

We do not prepare breakfast for our guests as we are out at work, but we provide tea, coffee, milk, orange juice, cereal and fruit for our guests so they can prepare their own.

The bathroom is spacious with a bidet and a shower. Towels and soap are provided and a hairdryer is available.

Within five minutes walk from our house you reach the village of Montefioralle, one of the most beautiful in Italy, where there are two restaurants and a bar that serves snacks. The celebrated wine town of Greve in Chianti is a fifteen minute walk away through the olive groves.

There are endless possibilities for walking in the countryside starting out from our house. I can provide maps and directions.

If you are traveling by public transport and need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the cities for a while, this is a wonderful place to relax as it is close enough to the town to walk to, yet hidden away in the woods, so total tranquility is guaranteed. I am happy to pick guests up from the bus stop in Greve and bring them up to the house.

If you are traveling by car PLEASE BEWARE, as with all the most beautiful, hidden places in Chianti our house is reached by a dirt road! We are 2km from the town of Greve and the first 700m are paved but from then on it is a dirt road. This can be very dusty in the summer months and the last 400m stretch is very rough, so you need to take it very slowly and preferably NOT with a low car.

ABOUT US - we are an English/Italian family of four elements: Mum, Dad and two teenagers. We also have a very friendly dog, a lot of cats, and all around the house there is a vast selection of wildlife that can be encountered each day - hare, foxes, deer, porcupines, badgers and sometimes wild boar. We're delighted to welcome visitors to share this unique and wonderful place which offers guests a rustic getaway from the hectic tourist trails of Tuscany. We also offer evening meals on request, so please don't hesitate to ask.

Getting around

In order to fully explore the Chianti region a car is essential as there are no public transport options between villages. There are regular buses between Greve and Florence, but to visit Siena you would need to take the bus to Florence then another one to Siena.
