“Rustic, quiet and "native" accommodations” Two Bays is quite a distance (about an hour) from the airport and NOT to be attempted after dark! For those not accustomed to right hand drive cars, or driving on the left side of the road, your additional challenges are the absence of road signs and the continuous narrow, hairpin turns. Once you arrive, however, it is a delightful and eclectic retreat with a mix of simple basics, native surprises and a touch of French cuisine. Alexander was in charge of the accommodations- a kind, quiet man with a heavy German accent. He gave us our key and explained how to turn on the propane for cooking, where switches were (warning- plugs are European but they did have an adapter for US items) and how to slide the louvered doors. The kitchenette was fully stocked with blender, coffee maker, toaster (all European plugs), dishes, pots and pans & flatware. You must stop at a grocery for your food, drinks, paper towels, shampoo & sun block. The room pictured, looking out on the bay was our room #15 (no numbers on the door)- best view! The netting must be heavily sprayed with bug spray before bed. I never saw mosquitos, but have dozens of itchy bites on my legs!! Right next to the units was the infinity pool and sunning area. Delightfully warm and clean. It is a short walk from the "Two Bays" units down to the bar/restaurant area, the caged animal collection (parrots, turtles, iguanas, monkeys...) and then more steps down to the beach. The beach was usually vacant, had lovely shade under the palms, and lounge chairs available. The dining/bar area is run by Bruno and Iris who will do everything they can to please you with their delicious menus. I enjoyed their "three course meal" for dinner on 4 separate nights and had such items as calalloo and goat cheese quiche, parrot fish, bread fruit, ochre and creme' brulee. I highly recommend the pina coladas. Meals were about $30 US. We took a tour of the island with Iris, a driver and another couple. A very bumpy but entertaining 8 hours with stops at a fish market, abandoned airplanes, nutmeg factory, chocolate plantation, quirky lunch spot, waterfalls (complete with a cliff diver!!) and plenty of photo opportunities. While we were there, poor Bruno was suffering with kidney stones but Iris carried on, single handedly managing everything with grace and experience. This is not a place for those that would be offended by goat poop on the path or noisy crickets at dinner, but is more for those who want a natural adventure in an adequate, relaxing and naturally beautiful surrounding. Yes, there is Wifi, but no tv and you don't really want to keep those lights on at night to read if it will draw the mosquitos! We swam after dark, or stayed down at dinner with drinks and then were asleep by 9! If you snorkel or scuba, my sister says you will REALLY love Grenada for that sport, but perhaps you might spend your time in the southwest corner or western side of the island.
