Description from owner
Description
The Creamery is a lovely one-bedroom former creamery beside the owners' 18th Century farmhouse. Situated at the top of the attractive grey stone village of Kniveton, this characterful cottage is fully equipped with everything the holidaymaker could want.
The cottage has one double bedroom, a well-appointed kitchen diner, a bathroom with bath and shower over, and a comfortable living area with a large TV and DVD player as well as a wide selection of books about the area. There is also a sofa bed.
Milk and home-made cakes are normally provided for guests on arrival, however with Covid-19 precautions we won't be offering this until advice changes. We are taking the cleaning guidelines about ensuring the safety of our guests very seriously!
There is an enclosed dog-safe patio/courtyard beside the cottage with BBQ and garden furniture. A gate leads to an enclosed garden with summerhouse (re-purposed from a greenhouse!) which gets warm even on cooler days. Another gate leads to the owners' large garden, containing lots of mature trees and lawns as well as a pretty stream with wooden bridge over. Guests and their dogs are welcome to enjoy this extra space too, and in the summer months you may be lucky enough to spot our free-range tortoise among the flower beds! Guests are also welcome to use our free-standing fire pit if you arrange it with us in advance.
We're lucky to have our local pub, The Red Lion only a short stroll down the hill, which serves a wide selection of interesting beers and wine, and really wonderful freshly-cooked food using local ingredients.
The charming little church is next door, famous for its tower and font, both dating back to the 13th Century.
Miles of public footpaths cross the rolling fields all around, and there are many walks starting from the front door.
Carsington Water is just up the road, with its visitors centre, miles of footpaths and children's play area to explore. Beautiful Dovedale, famous for its stepping stones, and Black Rocks Country Park are a short drive away.
Not forgetting the UK's premier theme park, Alton Towers which is 20 miles away.
Our favourite places to visit include antique shopping in Matlock and Wirksworth; ascending to the Heights of Abraham by cable car in the old Victorian spa town of Matlock Bath; and cycling the path of the old Ashbourne to Buxton railway line along the Tissington Trail.
Ample private parking, including secure garaging on request, make this an ideal holiday choice.
Please contact us if you require a two night stay and we will try to fit you in where we can. Also note that Milkmaids Cottage is at the same location, and the two cottages can be booked together to accommodate 9 people.

“Restful weekend”
I had a lovely relaxing weekend with my partner and our dog. The cabin is very well equipped with everything you may need for a comfortable stay. We had a fun veggie bbq in the enclosed garden, watched movies (there is a dvd with lots of movies to choose from), cooked dinner, and hiked through the beautiful Peak District sceneries. The surroundings are lovely, with easy access to quite some interesting places. Definitely recommend it :)

“Little Gem”
Cottage was amazing. Had everything we needed, but the best thing about it was the outside space - a patio area and then a garden with a summer house - wonderful for when the evenings turned a little cool. That’s said we were blessed with good weather. Excellent base with many places if interest nearby that are not overcrowded. Last but not least - Liam was an excellent host. Couldn’t have been more helpful in giving us tips for visits and coming to the rescue the evening when the oven decided not to work! I can’t recommend it enough.
