Description from manager

Description

If you're looking for character and luxury this exquisite property provides copious amounts of both. Historic architecture with 21st century comforts and situated in one of the loveliest 'off the beaten' track Cotswolds towns (Northleach). Accommodation comprises large lounge, spacious kitchen / diner, double bedroom with en-suite and The Guggle Room!.

Just a short walk from the Market Square, with wine bar, local shop, bakers & butchers. 2 minute walk to the very popular Wheatsheaf Inn.

The space

Upon entering, you will be greeted by a beautiful entrance hall with stunning stone walls and traditional flooring, which leads to the bedroom on one side and the living space on the other.

Kitchen and Dining Area

The spacious kitchen area is equipped with all modern conveniences, including a toaster, microwave, and a plentiful supply of pots, pans, and cooking utensils. Additionally, there is a full-size fridge/freezer and dishwasher, and we provide dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, sponges, tea towels, and oven gloves. You can enjoy your meal at the large oak table with views to the garden.

Sitting Room

The sitting room is a classic, cottagey, beamed space with an inglenook fireplace (with wood burner), games, well-thumbed Penguins, and two large comfy sofas to relax on. On the wall, there is a flat-screen TV with Bose soundbar and firestick for you to sign in with your own login credentials.

Bedroom

The bedroom is a lovely space with traditional Cotswold stone walls and exposed beams. It features a comfy double bed, a small wardrobe with drawers, and two bedside tables. The en-suite shower room comprises a quadrant shower, sink, and toilet, and we provide two bath sheets, towels, and hand wash for use during your stay.

Garden

Outside, you will find a lovely enclosed cottage garden with a seating area and gas barbecue.

The Guggle Room

The "Guggle Room" is so-called from the fact that the ceiling of the room is of spiral shape, thus resembling a snail's shell or "guggle" as it is called locally. Some people hold the idea that the building was erected over a holy well. In 1800 the Guggle became a drinking shop, known as "The Horse and Groom". In a panel in the wall is a painting of a horse held by a groom, who is clad in a brilliant waistcoat and knee-breeches. The horse is said to be Coronation, a famous racehorse breed near Northleach. Beneath is the inscription "Meet Friendly Drink Heartily Pay Honestly Part Quietly".

“Lovely find”

Reviewed 1 Mar 2020

7 Ladies on a weekend getaway. Lovely house with everything you need and more. Location was great, with pub, wine bar, shops, cafe etc. all within a few minutes walk. Parked the car up on the Friday and didn't move it again until it was time to leave. I would definitely recommend this house.
