Description from owner

Description

Bullrush log cabin, part of Willowbank Lodges, nestles in a small hamlet in the heart of the Pewsey Vale bordering the Kennet and Avon canal. The five luxury log cabins have been solidly built from Russian redwood and are situated in three and a half acres including a private lake and are surrounded by beautiful countryside and a wide variety of wildlife. Bullrush cabin overlooks the stream, is the closest of the large cabins to the lake and facing south, it get sun most of the day.

Guests who are looking for a tranquil holiday surrounded by nature will find Willowbank Lodges ideal. Bird lovers will enjoy watching the various families of waterfowl on the lake, including our indigenous pair of swans, herons and our kingfisher who flies up and down both the lake and the stream and can be seen sitting on the railings near the end cabin, Kingfisher, so named.

Ramblers and cyclists alike will enjoy the miles of walks straight from the cabin gates with panoramic views of the Pewsey Vale from Martinsell Hill and of course we are on the National 4 cycle trail. Our ancient Savernake Forest is only a 5 minute drive away and is quite stunningly beautiful whether you are walking, picnicking or cycling.

The cabins provide a superb holiday base from which to explore the ancient county of Wiltshire and are easily accessed from the M3 and M4. Furthermore, the airports of London Heathrow, Bristol, Southampton and Bournemouth are between one and one and a half hours drive away. The local village of Pewsey is less than two miles away and boasts a good supermarket, butcher, baker, petrol station, garage, Indian restaurant, cafes and pubs and it also has a railway station with a fast train service to London and the West Country.

No smoking is allowed in the cabins but can be enjoyed outside under the cover of the veranda.

Well behaved dogs welcome and verandas now have gates therefore secure for dogs and young children.

Flexible changeover days - see Conditions.

Response from the owner Thank you Samantha for your great review and I am so glad you had a lovely time at Willowbank Lodges. When setting up the cabins I furnished them the way I would hope to experience when renting holiday accommodation and that certainly includes comfy beds and a well equipped kitchen. The roofs over the verandas have proved a good design decision - I always marvel at how many people in the winter will choose to sit out in their hats and coats just to look at the water and wildlife, but it is very tranquil and water has a very calming effect, and that is largely what my guests want to experience. I appreciate you leaving the cabin so clean and tidy when you left, thank you and please come back again anytime! x

“Fabulous in every way”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2018

Looking for a holiday nearer home, we stumbled across Willowbank lodges. We have some special needs because Dad is disabled, so I called Nicky to discuss his needs. She was incredibly accommodating and very informative about the lodge and surrounds, so we booked. When we arrived, we found a piece of heaven! The lodge was beautiful, comfortable and decked out like a home from home. It really made us feel welcome and relaxed. The site is idyllic. What better way is there to wake up in the morning surrounded by green, with a lovely view of the lake. There is a wonderfully spacious balcony, ideal for watching the swans and their cygnets feeding, or napping, and the herons coming in for a daily feed. It's quiet and peaceful. Although we're the kind of family that likes to explore, and there is plenty to explore nearby, we were also really happy to just chill in this relaxing and heavenly spot. We will be back, again and again! Thanks to Nicky for giving us a new home away from home.

We spent Christmas in Bullrush - two other cabins used by family members-and everything was perfect. Although Nicky was away we had a warm welcome - a Christmas card and a bottle of fizz -and we settled in to the already cosy cabin straight away. It was much larger than we had envisaged and had everything we needed.Bed was extremely comfortable." Home from home" is an appropriate description. We will visit again.

“One of the best holiday lets I have stayed in.”

Reviewed 1 Dec 2012

Bullrush Lodge is very spacious, cosy and well equipped. I was surprised how big the lodge was inside. Lots of thought has been given to making it comfortable, even down to a blanket on the back of the sofa for those chilly evenings. Everything needed to enjoy our holiday was right there on hand. The scenery at Willowbank is beautiful and can easily be viewed from the comfort of seating provided on the veranda or whilst relaxing inside. The lake, it's various wildlife, and the walks in and around Willowbank meant you could just appreciate the surrounding area and not have to use the car if so wished. The location of Willowbank makes it easy to visit places like Devizes, Hungerford etc by car. You can combine sightseeing and relaxing whilst staying at Willowbank. It is definitely one of the best holidays I have had and I look forward to returning again in the future.

“A tranquil location with every comfort”

Reviewed 2 Nov 2012

We chose Willowbank Lodges because of the excellent standard of accommodation and tranquil seeting promised on their web page and we were not in any way disappointed. Our lodge was beautifully furnished and fully equipped and its waterside setting could not be beaten. We were particularly pleased to be able to walk up onto the Downs without needing to use our car at all. For supplies, we found the Co-op supermarket in Pewsey to be particularly good and there are plenty of welcoming village pubs round about for lunch or dinner. Willowbank will certainly be on our list for a return visit in the future.

“Luxury, peace and quiet and a home from home feel”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2012

Had a fantastic 3 night stay. The accommadation is modern, clean, warm, all mod cons and dog friendly. Location is fantastic, only a short distance from Salisbury and Marlborough, with Glastonbury and the Cheddar Gorge all within reach. Nicky, the owner is very efficient and very welcoming. The location of the lodges is very picturesque, overlooking what I think was a former trout lake. You are not overlooked by the other lodges, so felt very private and the balcony was great to make use of the late summer sun and early morning breakfast that we were very lucky to get! Lots of great foodie places around and excellent if your a National Trust member, as some superb sites and walks. Absolute bonus was free Wi-Fi ;)
