Description

Holly Cottage is the perfect destination for singles or couples; a completely relaxing holiday, a romantic short break, or a fabulous energetic outdoor experience. We have taken a tumbled down Grade II listed building and transformed it into a haven of tranquility. Our minimum stay is 3 nights.

The cottage is on a quaint lane in the peaceful village of Ellastone, near to our stunning village pub The Duncombe Arms, beautiful church and our very own stretch of the River Dove. Situated in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales with easy access to the Peak District and the Staffordshire Moorlands. With walking and cycling at your doorstep, and horse riding, climbing and canoeing nearby there is something for everyone. Just driving through the sleepy local villages provides for a great day out. Alton Towers is less than 10 minutes drive away.

You can choose how special you would like your visit to be. Our standard package provides you with all the little touches to make your visit to our lovely cottage very enjoyable. All towels, bed linen, toiletries, bath robes, tea coffee biscuits milk and sugar will be waiting for you, but why not make your special occasion even more special with one of our luxury hampers? Containing Champagne or Prosecco or wine, some flowers & chocolates or any combination.

For your special occasion it can all be waiting for you when you arrive (complete with fairy lights if you like).

You will stay in a totally restored 17th century cottage which offers a cosy retreat, but with all the modern luxuries needed for 21st century living. There is dedicated off-road parking for 2 cars right at your door, along with a seating area for alfresco dining. Our free wifi (download at 38mbs) is provided for your convenience. If you want it it's totally unlimited; if you need a complete break you can switch off the router - the choice is yours.

We are pleased to welcome one small well behaved dog for a small charge of £25 per stay & also offer a doggy daycare or evening dog sitting service for guests.

Our local pub The Duncombe Arms serves superb food and is only a short stroll along the lane from Holly Cottage (and is dog friendly).

“Wonderful stay”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2022

Wanted a quiet week away with my wife, and this beautiful cottage was just what we hoped for. Everything we needed was there and the surrounding countryside was just breathtaking. Michele the owner was there to greet us, and with a quick tour of the cottage and keys handed over we felt at home straight away. Michele was warm and friendly and recommend a few places too visit. Would recommend this cottage, and hope to return one day. Thank you for a great stay Roy Smith North Yorkshire

I loved this cottage. It is not far from anywhere. Ashbourne is lovely as is the surrounding area. The house was lovely and warm. I loved that the homeowner left some milk, tea, coffee and sugar to get you going. I hope to return there as soon as I can
