Description

Orchard Cottage is a beautiful Stone built cottage built to include many modern day luxuries and is set in it's own grounds overlooking open countryside. The cottage has an under cover entrance with step, leading off the carport into a utility fitted with storage cupboards a washing machine and tumble dryer with separate W/C.

Leading in to a beamed fully fitted shaker style kitchen with granite worktops and breakfast bar complete with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, eye level Neff fan oven with fold away door, electric hob and extractor fan, microwave and all the utensils to cater for either a light lunch or dinner party during your stay, also a dining area to seat 6 with french doors opening onto it's own private patio area with table and chairs looking out over the open countryside.

The entire cottage benefits from underfloor heating, and heated towel rails in the bathrooms to ensure our guests are snuggly and warm whatever the weather. Triple glazing simply adds to the level of comfort.

Leading off the dining kitchen is the large open plan lounge with high level log burner, 3 comfy sofa's (one is a double sofa bed ) and arm chair with foot stool to seat 7 and large flat screened TV and DVD for those cosy nights in.

The master bedroom is off the lounge with large fitted wardrobe, TV and walk in wet room with glass screen, ideal for guests with mobility problems with fold down shower seat, high rise toilet with grab rail and vanity basin.

The second double bedroom is off the hallway next to the fully tiled wet room with shower screen and fold down shower seat, high rise toilet with grab rail, and vanity basin.

The Cottage benefits from it's own dedicated parking areas under and in front of the carport, and the all important high speed internet (wi-fi) connectivity, (so rare in the countryside,) Clematis cottages have been established for over 19 years and we are continuously improving all aspects of the venue. Many of our guests have returned to us over 25 times during this period, and Trip Advisor have awarded us a 'Certificate of Excellence' many times.

Lodge farm dates back to 1635, overlooking the medieval hamlet of Aunby it is located on a hill top with views of rolling countryside, fields and forests to all four aspects. The peace and tranquility that surround the cottages helps you to unwind away from the pressures and stresses of day to day living. Even the wi-fi reaches out into the garden, we have recently had an Electric Charging Point Installed for our guests who have embraced sustainability.

It is the ideal location for a "get away from it all' holiday or short break.

We live in the seventeenth century farmhouse on site, and bought Lodge farm in the year 2000 since then have worked tirelessly to create a sanctuary for wildlife, rare birds, butterflies and bee's.

We have created a vegetable and herb garden to die for, with herbs also planted in the flower borders for guests to help themselves. Richard is a keen bee keeper looking after the apiary, chickens go about their business ensuring that fresh eggs, vegetables, and honey are almost always available to purchase plus our range of Homemade Jams, Chutneys and Artisan Jellies.

2007 saw the addition of the wildlife lake and ponds (with Hide) to the flower meadow. Attracting a variety of regular visitors ranging from ducks, red kites, barn owls, woodpeckers and damsel and dragon flies, to deer, hares and badgers. (Keen bird and bat enthusiasts are regular guests.) Strategically sited benches and summerhouses are inset into the copse of native trees and around the lake and meadow enabling guests to enjoy the simple pleasures of watching nature at it's finest; whilst sipping a glass of wine and watching the sunset on the western horizon. Many guests enjoy an evening stroll along the bridle path nearby.

The cottages can be booked as a whole or individually. All properties are fully self contained, and centrally heated making them fully available all year round.

and mobile phone connectivity is not an issue ensuring that if you need to be in contact with the outside world, you are! To see more please visit our own website for loads of photos and the all important Trip Advisor customer reviews. Clematis Cottages consist of 4 cottages which can accommodate 20 guests in comfort.

(Please call Richard or Kaye directly to chat about details on holidays/breaks for larger groups.) We always try to ensure that when parties are sharing the facilities available that their wishes are respected. For our younger guests there are 2 cots and high chairs available. Clematis cottages make the ideal venue for those very special family /friends reunions, and there is always a quiet sanctuary for Grandma and Grandpa to retreat to! Our other cottages are The Retreat, Hollyhock, and the Oak Barn, which when booked together can accommodate up to 20 guests in comfort.

“Lovely cottage and hosts”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2023

The cottage was lovely and an ideal base for our week away. It had everything needed and the gardens were an added bonus - perfect to wander around and we imagine lovely to sit and relax in in the summer. It’s lovely and rural but only 10 minutes easy drive from Stamford. Richard and Kaye were great hosts and nothing was too much for them. Highly recommended.

“Idyllic perfection!”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2021

We booked two of the cottages for a hen do weekend and it was absolutely perfect! Kaye and Richard had set us up so well with a little covered outdoor seating/eating area between the two cottages meaning we all had easy access to a shared space for meals and shenanigans. Very clean comfy beds, plenty of bathrooms for a group of 12 girls to get ready together, and everything you'd need in the kitchen to make self-catering easy. Both Kaye and Richard were lovely, allowing us to decorate the cottages for the hen group and using the paddock for a Prosecco-fuelled sports day! However, my personal favourite part of Clematis Cottage was the beautiful gardens! Richard offered us mint from the garden for our Pimms and was more than happy to give us a tour of the garden in all its magnificent glory; bees, vegetables, fruits, an orchard, everything! Absolutely stunning! Can't thank them enough for their hospitality and these cottages were absolutely ideal for our hen party so thank you Kaye and Richard!
